R50/53 Michael Gallati drives my MINI (long)
Michael Galati drives my MINI (long)
Yesterday the Rocky Mountan Chapter of the Audi Club of North America had a special event. We brought in the Champion Audi team. Monday night we had dinner at The Fort, a local restaurant up in the foothills. There were about sixty people there from the club, dealers, vendors, Toyo tires and such. The stars were Randy Pobst and Michael Galati who drive the Champion RS6 car in the Speed World Challenge. Randy also has driven the Grassroots Motorsprts MINI in the 12 endurance race. During the day on Tuesday we had a charity lapping session at Second Creek Raceway, I had driven my MINI down, hoping to squeeze in some track time.
I had a morning meeting and got there about two hours into the event. The event master rushed up to me and asked whether we could put my MINI in the rotation - they needed more cars. About 60 people had paid various amounts of money for four laps in cars that were being donated to be used. SOme of the other cars there included A GT3 cup car that Pobsat used to drive, the AWS Audi A4 that won the 1.8T challenge in European Car, a 5 cylinder Audi A4 prepped for the Pikes Peak Hillclimb, several UrQuattros (Turbo Quattro Coupes), UrS4's and new S4's and my MINI. Anyways Michael Gallati took two people out in the MINI - he thought it was great. I could have had Pobst drive it also but my thebrake pads on my Stoptechs were getting low and I needed to be able to get home. I hate posting pics of myself on the Internet, but can't resist this one. Here's a pic of my car and Michael Galati at Second Creek yesterday.

I think it means that the suspension is great with the power it has. At some point adding power will push the limits of handling. At least in my limited opinion. I have driven my friends RS6 and it doesn't feel as big as you would think. They are torque monsters but brake very well and handle quite neutrally. One drawback is you must be going very fast to get your attention. Thing I love about mini is that she is so fun at lower speeds as well! My 2 cents.

Colorado, Please don't take my comments negatively. Your car looks absolutely awesome and the mods sound great. Wish my Mini was as well set up. Sometime
