Resonator Delete

Anyone do a Resonator delete on a stock R53S?
Any indicator lights? Drone? and would I be able to do it for cheap with no issues such as smog later on?

I have had my done now on my R53 JCW for close to a year. It cost me $40 at a local high performance muffler shop. The tech who did it was very impressed with the way that it sounded. I have not regretted it since it was done. I really like the sound. I do not get any drone or lights. I would do it again in a heart beat. Even my son and his friends really like the sound. I have passed emissions without a problem.

Will most places allow you to keep the resonator just in case you don't like it and would want to reinstall it?

Yes, just make sure you tell them you want to keep it for them to reinstall it later on when you go to sell the car. That way when they cut it out they won't butcher it up.

And have them install a long piece of round stock welded to the new pipe to grab a hangar on the passenger side where resonator once was. You want the system to still be supported from both sides of the car. Otherwise it stresses the hangars on the drivers side and tail pipe tips will be off center.

Just did the delete on an R50. Very subtle., almost unnoticeable from inside.

Search for 'One Ball' mod. It doesn't make a huge difference in sound--just a little raspier.

I did the resonator delete on my 03' JCW MCS. It might have made a little difference, but not much. I don't regret doing it though

Deleting both *****? Vasectomy lol. Anyone have a sound clip with both of them gone? Have only heard a one ball mod, which I'm probably doing soon.

Resonator delete sounds nice with the JCW cat-back.

One-ball that bad boy. You won't regret it- great sound for very little $$$. Not going to throw any codes and does not drone. Great thing about these cars is you can lay the back seats down if you want more exhaust noise in the cabin.
