I would like to plug in a good radar / laser detector in my Mini S when I drive it out off the lot when it arrives in August. Any recommendations?

If the $400 price tag doesn't phase you, nothing I've ever seen
beats the Valentine One. Gives you signal strength, direction,
and number of sources. This thing is amazing, but you pay
through the nose for it. A friend of mine has one in his M3, and
it's saved his bee-hind more than enough times to pay for itself.
I'll be upgrading from my current Cobra model (decent, but can't
hold a torch to the V1) as soon as I can.

I second the above..... I've had my V1 now for about 4 years and still love it!!
It's been rated the best on the market for years....... I think it came in 2nd on a couple of comparo's but for the most part it takes top honors.

Knock on wood..... Mine is ticket free in 4 years of ownership!!!
Kinda cool to pick up speed traps and watch others take the bait.

Valentine One is simply the best and absolutely worth it if you have a lead foot. My father is a retired NYS Trooper and we've discussed radar detectors several times.

His advice was always: "Don't be a ******* – don’t speed!"

If you are a ******* like me and really need a detector, the V-One is it... but remember that if you do actually get pulled over with a radar detector in the car, you are almost 100% guaranteed that you will get a ticket. Talking yourself out of a ticket with a speeding tool (other than your cooper S of course) in plain view is darn difficult. Drive safe, speed smart!
