R50/53 Ordered New Rims I need help.
Ordered New Rims I need help.
I just ordered 17x8 et20 rims with 205/40/17. I have checked just about everywhere im getting frustrated lol. I cant find answers such as the spacers that would be needed. If the tires will rub and if they do how bad, would i have to grind metal down. Would i need additional parts just to have a fitment? Also i ordered vmax coils for it too. In other words would they fit? Do i have to worry about anything? Also i dont know if you guys are familiar with Axm's R53 which runs almost the same specs as mine but his specs are 17x8.5 et20. Im looking for a stance like his...Any help would be awesome.

Why wouldn't the coilovers fit? They are generally the same spec as your stock suspension when set at stock height...how low you can go might be impacted by the rim choice.
If you get spacers ... Make sure they are hub centric. You mention Axm...might be worth reaching out to him.

Why didn't you order the rims in the correct offset to achieve the look you want?

Sorry i know the coils will fit i didnt specify the question correctly. What am asking is would these rims fit correctly or would they rub. Thanks for the website i will check it out.
Hopefully one of the wheel experts will chime in here, there are a few. However 20 is a pretty aggressive offset, if I had to guess I'd say you might need to adjust camber a bit to make it work. Tire size will be a factor as well. Are you going to stretch tires?
Do you have adjustable lower control arms?

Nothing in particular two favorite brands on here are hotchkis and Alta.
when setting your initial length just measure it against the stock - then you must go to an alignment shop. Just so you know each time you adjust the height you are throwing the camber off some. Not sure how people do it - if they align the car every time.

The lower the et number the farther the wheels poke out of the wheel well. Adding spacers moves the wheel even further out.
Looking at his pictures, Axm has extreme negative camber, especially in the rear, to tilt the top of the tire inwards. I second the notion of sending an email or private message to him to ask what all he had to modify.

For the sake of stance, you're sacrificing so much.
You don't need spacers, as the guy above me said. You need a method to dial in front camber (Front: camber plates, Rear: adjustable camber links), and possibly silly stretched tires so that the wheel & tire can actually clear the inside of the fender flare when the suspension is compressed.

I don't know why people buy wheels not knowing what they need to do to make them fit.
Also, with vmaxx coils and with the camber needed to make those wheels fit the car is going to ride like sh*t and go through tires like crazy. I'm a fan of the stanced look but it just seems like you're sacrificing too much at this point.

If you're implying that negative camber alone eats tires, you'd be wrong. Toe is the biggest offender of that, and I run 0 toe and -2.5 camber with even tire wear. Additionally, most camber plates allow you to dial in some positive camber, in order to counter the effect of negative camber due to blindly slamming a car to the ground on cheap coilovers. I'm not promoting what OP is doing at all. Rather, I'm saying that with his new wheels and goals in mind, some adjustability will be needed.

Does that rub? Looks like it might but I don't know how much give your suspension has... also.. you aren't running the spacers right?
So far its not rubbing, but thats because I removed the fenders and sanded inner part of them. No spacers. And as of ride height ill get back at you to give you a accurate answer.
