R50/53 Snobby MCS Owners?
Some people measure the size of there schnitzle by the Horsepower or their 0-60 time. Some do not.
Some people take a $1000 toyota corola and install $2000 rims and a $1000 muffler. Some do not.
Some people take a Pickup truck and jack them up so that they cant get into them without a ladder. Some do not.
Some people buy a Hummer that has the best off road abilities of any car anywhere and put 24" -30" wheels on them makeing them unable to go off road. Some do not.
Some people are just jerks. Some do not.
For the ones that are. They always were and always will be. Life is way too short to stop in their rose garden to smell their flowers. So just moter on by and dont forget to poiltely wave at our fellow MCS owners.
Motor on.

I do not believe women's disinterest in muscle/performance cars (or cars in general) is "the natural order of things'-- its socialization.
But like CLO/Wanda, my earliest memories are hanging out with my father while he worked on his cars. I love cars. May not know a heck of a lot about them, but I am seriously considering taking some automech classes so I can fix that. Before I found the MINI through my female, weighlifting friends last year, my dream car was a 1966 Ford Mustang. That's the car I remember watching my father assemble, paint, and the first one he let me "drive" (sitting on his lap while he accelerated and I steered, of course). The newer car I wanted to own was the MAzda RX-8. But now-- its all MINI, all the time.
My best friend is a car mechanic, but her job in the military is fixing jet engines. She also works on the B1. Again, she grew up watching her Dad- except her Dad took it a step further and taught her. I envy my friend her knowledge and skill. My father believed cars were a man's territory and did not take that step with me. My best friend had Hot Wheels for Xmas. I got Western Barbie.
So, its not the natural order of things. Want your daughter in the pecking order? Teach her everything you know. Its the only way.
(Sorry, but Im finishing my degree in Sociology, and every time I see how something is not naturally a woman's inclination, it gets my motor going)

lol. Taching my daughter (if\when she exists) about my knowledge of cars will take about 5 seconds. "Honey, here's how we call Jeff. He knows everything about cars and makes Daddy look like an idiot."
That said, she'll be on skates when she's able to walk and playing goalie like her dad.
I just want to see her make a save on some hot shot boy and get his befuddled expression.
MC owners are just as snobby as MCS owners
Okay, flashed the lights at a MC this morning and no response. Then later on, I was next to a black mc this morning and the driver and his passenger looked over and then quickly looked back. Then he proceeded to cut off traffic to get over a lane without signalling.
It seems MC owners are just as bad as MCS owners. So all you guys who complained need to get off your high horse about which is better because MCS and MC owners are the same!

MC vs MCS
Hey I drive a loaded 2003 MC that I got used at a great deal.I was looking for an "S" but this one had about everything except the Supercharger.I love the MCS andMC.Both have their unique qualites.Everybody is different and Im happy with the performance of my MC.I have not in my experience seen any Snobby MCS owners and have enjoyed the thumbs up I recieve from both MC and MCS owners. We all own a great automobile no matter what situation. I bet the basic mustang and the 2+2 model owners had this same debate. No matter what they are both considered classic cars today.

I had a Barbie, but she didn't shop - she took roadtrips down the block in her big-a$$ bright yellow Barbie RV. When I was 10, I asked for a TYCO racecar set for Christmas. By the end of Christmas Day, I had raced those two little cars around the track so much that their axles melted. I had to go out and buy replacements on Boxing Day!
I used to think I was nuts because I enjoy cars so much. Then I found out that my dad owned a Mini Cooper back in the day (my parents grew up in a British colony). I've listened to his repair horror stories, and the new MINI couldn't possibly be as tricky as the old Mini. Dad told me about the remake of "The Italian Job," and then we test-drove an MCS together.

I used to be scared to go out- now I can't wait to deal with the highways. I'm even looking for a job after being a stay at home mom for almost 12 years. And now I want to learn how this little beauty works.

I have been catching myself watching American Choppers and a couple other mechanic-type reality shows on the Discovery Channel. I am watching them as much as I watch home design shows. I am really wondering if I should take a class and see if its something I could do as a hobby. My best friend would flip out if I did. She'd be thrilled.
Again, girls who show an interest outside of the 'norm' are made to feel like their weird. Nothing natural about that. Simply society telling us where our proper place should be.
Mojodiva, you will learn alot from reading these boards. Randy Webb's site has tons of how-to's, you can learn alot there, as well.

I love the chrome grill, liked the idea of better gas milage, lower price and I was still mulling the option of a CVT. Alas, the husband wanted more power, so if we were going to get a MINI, a compromise was in order. I'm learning to cope.
However, I think I will envy the MC owners in some ways for all of the above reasons.

I have not encountered this. The worst I got was an old lady in a yellow MC that forcefully ignored my wave in a parking lot. Hello... she was driving a YELLOW Mini! Jeez....

why bother? cooper owners in SF are a snobby bunch
Today, I only saw two coopers, both MCS', and again, neither owner looked at our car.
Yesterday, we saw an EB MCS on the freeway and when I flew by the slowpoke(60 mph during rush hour when traffic was moving at 70mph) the driver looked over and had the "who's hooking at me" expression.
So after two weeks of ownership, I've decided to ignore all Coopers so if I ignore you then you know why.

Not seen the up turned nose yet
Hello to all:smile: I have been the owner of our '04 MC for about 3 months now and still love her, even after making a couple of payments. My son has asked if the newness has worn off yet and must definetly say No. I am in my early 50's and Tootles is the first "sports car" ever owned by myself. As a matter of fact the first brand new car we have purchased in twenty years. Sure, I would have liked the MCS for the additional horsepower but wearing a prosthesis on the left leg I am limited to an automatic in most vehicles. In my lifetime have owned numerous "go fast" vehicles and even today my primary ride is a '88 Silverado 4x4, slightly built which I enjoy. Sure, our Cooper will not blow your doors off redlight to red light (except maybe a Corolla haha) but ya can't hang with me in the twisties. I have had no indication of "snobbery" from any other Mini owners and all respond with a wave. There are so few of us in this area it is not common to see another. Tootles never fails to bring a smile to the face of those inquring as to her make.
The only Mini I don't like is a mini van, just kidding. But it would be cool if Mini made a mini van it would be a Mini mini van, or Mini mini van S. OK maybe
not.
But I know what you are talking about XAlpha, I used to have a New Slugbug when they first came out, and at first there were very few on the road and now I see about 5 on my way to work. Occasionally I see 1 Mini or a Mini S. I have an S but I flash my lights or wave at any Mini I see, that is if I see it in time, sometimes we are both going kind of fast...
not.

You're not of of them scofflaws speeding in the streets stead of on racetracks are you?
The point of greeting another MINI should be for your own satisfaction of doing it, not cuz you expect something back..... maybe the other person just got dumped by their significant other, maybe they are in a bad mood..... who cares, the point his, YOU waved.......
