>>>>now I feel really left out. The cars built before AND after mine (tdXXX17 and tdXXX19) are both booked, but mine still isn't. Hopefully a call will get that squared away. but, kinda strange I think...
>>
>>
>>Are you sure you are not on the Don Juan with me??? I just guess at what your VIN might be (compared to mine) and I show TD61718 is on it's way.
>>
>>Maybe this is not your VIN... like I said I was guessing. Juat wishful thing on my part maybe... I want you to get your (and me get my) mini ASAP!!!
>>
>>- Chris

Sorry, I just realized you are on the West coast... which means you must be on a different ship and therefore have a different VIN. There are less ships going to the west coast, so your car mat have to wait at the docs a little longer to hitch a ride... don't worry though, it will pop up all of the sudden... KEEP CHECKING!!!! We are all rootin' for you to be part of the December Club!!!

I posted a few moments ago as NEW MEMBER with a lotta info. However since then I have done some digging and found how to track my MINI. It is booked on the Faust due to depart Southampton on 11/24 and arrive in South Carolina on 12/7. I don't know about others, but Minis destined for the southeast are delivered to SC where they are taken to the BMW plant in Grier S.C. before transport to your dealer. I was told to expect late January delivery. So imagine my suprise when I find I may be getting a barely early Christmas present. For those looking:Tracking Info here is the site to track shipping info. This took me some effort to find buried in all of these posts. Enter the last 7 digits of the VIN number. I am soooooo happy.

>>I had an 11/15/02 production date. It appears that my MINI is loaded in Southampton on the Figaro. It's due in South Carolina 11/29/02. Any mates on the ship. I think it's getting close ... finally!

Nigel is on the Figaro also. Is it me or is the wait getting worse?

ASKMINI catches up 5 days later. There I am watching the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site as it informs me that my car is Booked on Friday 11.15, Arrived at Terminal, Loaded on Vessel (Haul Triton) on Saturday 11.16 and Departed on Sunday 11.17. All the while ASKMINI says my car is at the factory Awaiting Transport, Status 182 through yesterday 11.19. Finally they tell me today 11.20 its on the Atlantic heading over. Now how is it that I know before they do? And what about when Wally Wilhelmsen hands it over to the VDC? Will I again be stumbling in the dark misled by the blind or will ASKMINI be able to keep me abreast of the current status and Dealer delivery date? The saga continues but when does it end?
yo jim, patiently waiting in hon-town

I was poking around a bit at the Wilhelmsen site, it would appear that they take care of all of the VDC duties, having them at a few of their US Ports. I would imagine that they are in contact (somehow) with MINI to keep them up-to-date. I have read that both the owners lounge and ASK-MINI aren't very useful after it leaves Southhampton, but that is only what I have read in posts here. I would guess that another good source of information MIGHT be your dealer. That in conjuction with the WW site and ASK MINI is about the best that you can do.

Looks like the Trianon is getting loaded up today and should be leaving port, stopping in GA before heading home. Anyone else waiting for this boat, or do I have the only MINI on it?

TE15376 Nuthin yet on WW site. Maybe we will ship together.

So excited for you. It's weird when you finally realize that this car in your mind is finally a reality. I'll believe it when I see it!! I CANNOT wait!!

I'm with you MandyinMD. My car was born yesterday, too and is awaiting transport. Still no info on the WW site. At least my HARMINI will have company sailing over the waters with her MD twin. Oh, can you just see those two beauties side by side!!

My VIN is TE15360 so I guess that makes your MINI the younger twin.

just checked the owners lounge...says I'm awaiting transport, while the WW site shows that Roxy is already on the boat...I'm guessing a few days lag time?

[EDIT] in not paying attention mode tonight....missed the 5 day lag above. Sorry
[/EDIT]

Just checked with Ask Mini and my car has finally been born! When I asked how long until I actually get on a ship, he told me 1-2 weeks though. I thought it should just be a few days based on what I've read in these forums...

Anyone, what is your experience as far as time between production completed and loaded on ship?

Guess I'll be checking the WW site every 5 minutes from now on...

Mine was born on Saturday, November 16th, booked the 19th and loaded the 21st. I think that 5-7 days from birthday to getting on the boat is about average.

VAmini,
Well my car was completed on week 46..which ended the 15th of Nov.
The car is being loaded on the Don Juan this weekend Nov.23/24.
So waiting a week or two doesn't sound out of the way.

Okay, I hate to do it (tho I know you are all lovely people) but I have to make the switch from the November to December club!

The arrival date of my ship, the Trinidad, keeps getting put back, day by day. Now it's gonna arrive in Port Hueneme on the 29th-- and there's clearly no way Alfie will get to me in a day. So November is officially out! Thanks for letting me join up with you all...

Cheers,

Leslie

Welcome to the club! Although I think it totally sucks that you had to switch, you are still welcome here! Certainly appears that you'll be the first to say

"I'm outta this stinkin' club!"

speaking of lag time...the WW site had mine all week, but the owner's lounge just updated today, showing as awaiting transport.

So this is what everyone means when they say the wait gets harder after production...

I thought my mini was coming in by thanksgiving. It seems that I have yet another three weeks left. I am now officially a member of the December Club.
