I am Finally Free

Yesterday I decided I would stop recording my gas mileage/cost/and quantity. What a relief.

I have been recording mileage, date, gallon quantity and miles driven at every fuel stop for the last 35 years or so. I DON'T record cost.

I have found this information to be very useful over the years. When I see the fuel consumption increase over several tank fulls I know to investigate. If you catch a problem early you will have much less of a problem to deal with.

My $0.02,

35 years! Geez. I thought I was wierd for recording fuel mileage since my first new vehicle purchase in Feb 1990 some 14 years ago. I considered stopping too, but alas, it's much too much of an addiction for me to do so. I'd feel naked if I didn't do it...

hopeless data acquisition nut

I've got it all - miles, gallons, cost, # fillups, min, max, avg. You name it, I've got it. Variable cost, fixed cost, cost per mile, cost per year, graphical depiction of use by month (ok, I don't have that one, but give me a minute...)
Now if I can convince the wife to FILL the tank, I won't have to interpolate.

I am an addicted data keeper also. I keep track of all car costs on my palm. I let my wife drive my car yesterday while hers was in the shop and to thank me she filled it up and didn't keep the receipt. I am ruined! I guess I'll just have to guess and spoil my data with an asterisk.

This type of thing happens to me as well. When taking it in for service, they'll reset the trip or the ave speed or the ave MPG for the tank.

You can see some of my (old) data for the MCS here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ead.php?t=8967

Some Miniacs even store theirs online like iancull does. See: http://www.gbmini.net/images/GBMINImpg.jpg

I have the 1/4 tank fuel #'s down by heart now after 11+ months of motoring, that I have stopped recording MPG,which is very good in my MC.Oh I don't talk about it anymore with friends ,they think that I am MINI nuts enough without fretting over how little fuel I go through Well I must go out
and wax Poco's valve stems

Oh, man! This is FUNNY! I SO prefer the even-numbered years...except for I seem to have purchased an '03 MINI! WTF! I do admit to liking years ending in "5," though! It just tickles me to see the cool, obsessive record-keeping going on in the MINI world....EXCELLENT!

I'm glad that you are now liberated from the numbers.
Now you can enjoy. If you need to you can always decide to check mpg now and then later out of curiosity. A good and stable mpg is a good indicator that your MINI is doing well

Does cerebral mean that we like granola and frosted flakes for breakfast
