R50/53 Puddles, puddles --HELP!
Puddles, puddles --HELP!
Hi All,
For the past week I've been finding a large amount of water on the driver's side floor everytime I get in the car. I'm assuming this has something to do with the air conditioner, but I cannot find where it is coming from! I really need to figure this out soon, as I don't want mold to start forming in my less than a month old car. Also, the nearest dealership is 5 hours away, and I'd rather fix this myself, but I have no idea where to start.
Any ideas on this?
Many thanks in advance!

I do have a sunroof, but I guess I should further explain the situation. The car has not been outside in the rain at all, and is fully garaged all the time. I'm assuming the only place water could come from would be the air conditioner?

Socrates, sorry to hear about your water problem. My '04 MCS has been flawless in nearly 10K miles, so does your car should be too. My honest advice is to plan on making the 5 hour trip back to the dealer....this is why your car has a full 4 year/50K mile bumper to bumper warranty.
It seems to me an A/C related problem....a clogged or pinched hose or a problem with the condensator. Anyway, no matter what the cause could be, the diagnostic and repair is best left to your dealer to solve.
Living in Miami, my A/C runs 110% of the time. Right now we have 90% humidity and temps in the the low to mid 90's day in and day out. I haven't had any problems with water leaks at all. My MCS does not have sunroof either.
Ditto for my 2 and a half year old '02 Cooper CVT. No water problems on that one either.
Let us know how it goes. I hope is something fairly simple to fix.

Another concern with water leaks inside is that at some point they will turn to mold or mildew in the carpet etc. And getting rid of that smell is tough.
So is getting the spilt milk smell out of a trunk, but that's a whole other story.

Thanks, All.
I will be making a service appointment in the next week or two. It is awfully tough not running the air conditioner with 90%+ humidity and 90+ degree temperatures every single day.
Best Regards,

Sorry
The condenser is not in the cockpit.I guess the lines could sweat.Do you use recirc air.Can you stand motoring without a/c to see if it still happens.
