Body control module is from a different car

So my car has a body control module from a different car. Would that cause my key fob not to work?

The immobilizer/transponder chip is paired w/ the BC1. If it's a used one, I'm guessing the keys came w/ it. It may not have the same features on as how your car came w/. The dealership or anyone w/ our program can custom activate all the preferred features for you.

I don't have any history on the car. It has a salvage title. The damage to the car was at the right foot well right where the body control module mounts. The module that's in it now is from a 04 mini. No Mini dealer near me. I do have the BMW inpa program on my laptop. It would be nice to have a working key fob, but its not the end of the world.

You said in a different thread that it is a 2003. In that case, the receiver would be in the headliner near the base of the rear view mirror.

Thanks. I will look. I wouldn't be surprised if it was not there. Because a lot of parts were missing from the car. It has a salvage title from 2007. The passenger air bags are blown. Other parts were missing where it was damaged. I replaced those. Theres still a 3 wire plug near the abs brake control under the hood I dont know what its for.
