R50/53 June Builds
June Builds
Hello everyone, windrider here...I am going crazy here waiting for my week 26 build. Are there any others out there who can suffer with me? I know I have a problem and that's the first step to recovery right? I don't know there is already an existing thread for tracking June builds but it would be nice to know who else is waiting as impatiently as I.

Misery
Hi Ninjamini...finally, a shoulder to feel my pain!!! My wife gives me no sympathy and "just doesn't understand" the agony...It will be pure misery in missouri until week 26...then another few weeks till delivery. Do you know how the folks in the "May Build" area got all the information on ships, location of the boat, arrival date, etc? I know this is self torture but I'm like an addict...I've been bitten and need more info!!! I just gotta know where my baby is at every moment till the key is placed in my hand...What state are you in? what dealership? planning any mods? I hope to do suspension this summer before school starts then possibly intake and exhaust in the fall. I'm on all the instant messenger services...we should form a support group!!

Hey guys, fellow June build here. My MINIs actually on a ship heading towards NY, on the Madame Butterfly. Should be at the dealer by the 23rd or so, but won't be able to drive it for awhile :( I'm in the Classic MINI group buy so have to wait a bit until everyone's MINIs gets shipped over the Atlantic.
June Build here!
I have been wanting to set up this thread forever (well it feels like forever). I have been lurking in and out of the May Build thread. It is a sick form of torture reading into a thread of people who will all have their cars way before you. My car went into production on 6/7 and was completed today! I was supposed to be a week 25 build but things seemed to have gone faster. I love that so far every thing has been ahead of the estimates I was given. Under promise and over deliver and all that rah rah.
My wife just doesn't understand either. Great to know I am not the only one who has zero patience and is a tad obsesive. I am in California and must remember to ask the dealer not to drill for the front plate. So far in 11 years of driving with no front plate no problems (knock on wood). Maybe I should have them drill and just remove it? That way if I finally get busted I can slap it on? Do you guys have to worry about this in your states?

Thought I would chime in here as well. I ordered my Mini a couple of weeks ago. I finally got a chance to give MINI a call today only to discover the wonderful news that "Dominique" is scheduled to be completed today!!!!
Much faster than I expected. However the suspense is still killing me.

I want my Mini.
Anyone else try tracking there VIN to see if they are loaded on a ship, about to be loaded or what not. How soon after you have a vin can you do this? I tried plugging my vin in but nothing. It was just finished being built Friday so I didn't expect to see it yet. How long do you guys think it takes before the WW site shows the cargo? Very helpful FAQ in the link below.

You all are sooo lucky to have your cars done and waiting for a boat...week 26 seems soooo far off. I'm calling mini again tomorrow. Hey I had another idea too...I am currently in Paris and I wonder if they would let me come over to GB to see my mini being born...what do you all think?

I'm a Maydayer (we decided to give the May builds a group name), so I can feel your pain. Charlie has arrived at my dealer and I'll be picking him up on Wednesday. To anyone that is even thinking on buying off the lot, I have one word of advice --- DONT! What you're going through now is half the fun of getting a MINI. Posting and chatting with everyone who is going through the same thing only amplifies your love for your car. So have fun wishing, spec-ing, naming, waiting, tracking, hoping and , finally, motoring. I wouldn't change a thing.
We got all of our tracking information from a FAQ on MINI2's website. My favorite was oceanweather.com once I knew which ship it was on. I'd pull up the site at work and show people exactly where my car was.
Again, welcome, and enjoy the ride.

Hi Bryan, thanks for writing MINI.
Sounds like you have a fantastic trip ahead of you, if timing is right you may see the birth of your new MINI. However I doubt they let filming at the plant, mothers can be a little shy in the delivery room.

question/comment:
Hello, my name Bryan Carter and I just ordered a Mini Cooper S with a scheduled production date during week 26. I am currently a visiting professor at the University of Paris-Sorbonne and will be in Europe until June 30th. This is the first new car I have purchased and have in fact joined several disucssion groups to learn more about the Mini Cooper and it's heritage. As I have learned more about the car, I have become more anxious about getting it, motoring, and being more involved in Mini related events. Well, to be quite honest, I am obsessed with almost everything "mini." Being so close to GB while completing my stay in Paris, would it be possible to visit your production plant and witness my baby being born? To watch the miricle of birth of such a precious little thing would make this soon to be father so proud and honored. My child has been named "Savannah 2." Week 26 is not far off. It would be such a wonderful experience to actually take my DV Cam into the delivery room to permantently record the blessed event. You guys might even be able to make a cool media event or commercial event of this ... "The expectantcy of new Mini owners"or something like that...In any case. I look forward to hearing from you and hope you send an encouraging response.
Take care,
Bryan Carter
expectant father of an 04 IB/IB, sunroof, JCW 18s, HK, chrome mirror caps, aero kit, nav system.
soooooo, what do you all think...?...ok...waiting,waiting, really tryingto be patient...

a funny concept...
hey everyone, I had this thought related to my post above...For a commerical, the scene could open with a guy getting aphone call inthe middle ofthe night waking hiim out of a great dream about his new mini cooper...carving up some mountain canyon etc...the is jolted awake by the phone andhe nervously says somethinglike:
father: "it time!!! oh God, ok, i'll be right there!!!!
you see him scrambling to get dressed, and then we cut to him knocking on the neighbor's door and that neighbor says:
neighbor 1: I heard the phone, i'llgrab the emergency bag!!!! and hit the alarm...
we see him doing all this andwhen he hits the alarm, all the adjoining doors onthe apartmentfloors open with guys grabbing emergency bags and rushing around in a general state of confusion, and excitement!!!
then we cut to a bus where all the guys are comforting one of them whose eyes we are looking through...they are obviously racing through the city inthis really hopped up bus that was specially made for this sort of occasion.....they drive wildly through the city and then we see the bus sort of turn into a sea-going craft andthey head right out over the ocean and the inside turns real high-tech and the guys are all suited up in special suits for this sortof mission...they are headed to GB...
friend #2: Estimated time of arrival 4 hours from now...we shouldtryto makehim as comfortableas possible (he is at some sort of controls and everyone else is manning some sort of monitor/computer...
onthe extended version of this they could even experience some sort of difficulty along the way that they would have to overcome etc...
when they get to the shore, the bus turns back into a high tech bus and races to the MINI plant and they pull into the "emergency" dock and the patient is unloaded and raced through thte halls...doctors runningalong side shouting out orders:
doctor #1: Give him some %$#...^ zine...that will stabilise him!!!!!
doctor #2: Shoot him up with 10 CCs of ^%@#*&^^^ oricazine...he'll trip for awhile but that's better than having him squirming around like this!!!!!
we cut backto the face ofthe patient, who is now in obvious agony, wiggling around and making these wierd faces but when he opens his eyes, with an obvious look of wild-eyed craze, yet sanity, excitement, yet pain, anger, yet happiness that all expectant parents go through at this stage of the "experience".....when he flashes open his eyes, we quickly cut to a shot of a mini being assembled and rollling though the "birth canal" to the end of the assembly line...there are about 10-15 of these quick shots to the "canal" mixed in with alternating shots of the patient's curious expression described above
we then cut to him beingstood up at the end of the "line"/"Canal" witnessing the car coming through an all-sides final rince (backlit to give the appearance that something great has just pushed it through this rince) and the patient gasping, screaming and then passing out...only to be revied by his mini honking softly with him in the driver's seat...
now that would be a commerical I would watch!!!!!

Cool idea
I like the idea for the commercial. Would fit right in with the birthing process Mini already promots.
My VIN doesn't show yet on the WW site under auto cargo. So I tried checking vessels that are scheduled to depart from South Hampton to California starting Monday and the first one doesn't leave until the 21st. That sucks. Might work out I guess since the car was finished Friday and I guess it will take time for them to truck it from Oxford to the dock. Still that would but me at mid to late July before I am motoring.

Vin still not showing in cargo tracker
I have resorted to searching by possible boats. There are two leaving for CA one on the 18th and another on the 21st. Would love of course to be on the first one. Haul Triton and the Trianon. Anyone showing as booked on either of these? Or are all of you East Coast folks?
Great News Windrider
I tried calling today but their system was down. Maybe tomorrow. I think my car didn't finish production yet since I can't pick it up on the WW site.
Hopefully, I still have a chance at catching the boat on the 18th and don't have to wait for the one leaving on the 21st.

Hello there, I'm a one of the Maydayers, just stopping by to see how the june build group was coping.
Objxs, This is so stupid but funny, I also am currently cruzin' in an old Camry, a bit fewer miles but getting really close to the 200,000 mark, I also ordered a LY MCS though mine will have a black top. I wonder if it is b/c the camry is so common a boring that we went with yellow minis to have something so different.

HI Gang,
I just gor of the phone with ASK-MINI and they told me that as of this morning my MINI has STARTED PRODUCTION!!! It is supposed to be 1 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule.
The funny thing is that the OL web site still states that dreaded, boring "On Order" status (I HATE that). She was able to give me a VIN number after insisting. I tracked it by "Auto" and the Wallenius Wilhemsen web site, and I stated that "No tracking information is available for the Cargo ID entered".
ASK-MINI gave me the last 7 character of my VIN, and she told me the first 7 characters are WMWRE33404.
Does anyone know what is going on?
I am in New York CIty. Does anyone know when I can expect delivery?
Thanks,
Nando

It will all happen sooner than you think. Try to remain calm. All these tracking systems are a little slow, especially the mini OL, ~3 day to 1 week behind. Call ask mini they will take care of you, your vin sonds good, MCS huh. It will take a week or less to get through production, you are probably not really started but all your parts are in line so don't worry. In the meen time you should check that your order is correct one last time with ask mini or the OL. You will be able to start the shipping tracking in a little over a week, when your car is delivered to the dock. My guess would be that you will be sitting the drivers seat within a month.
