Cool that you are starting production! Next steps are having it complete production so that you can see it on the WW site. Even though you now have a VIN, you will get that crappy "No tracking info avialable" until it has completed production. Being on the east coast means you get your car much sooner then us in California. I guess it makes up for having to live on the east coast .

I just checked ships going from South Hampton to the east coast and it looks like the boat ride is 14ish days. So lucky since it takes 22-24 to San Diego. Turns out my car just went to quality control so I have a ways to go to. Good luck with the wait. It hasn't been easy for me but NAM makes it easier!

LOL! I think you've hit on something there. I think it has something to do with coming out of one's shell or something. I've been driving old, reliable, fuel efficient beaters my entire life and suddenly felt the urge for something completely different. And hey, if you are going to go different, there's no point in being timid. Besides, everyone else is getting the other colors; the yellow will really make us stand out.

Objxs, This is so stupid but funny, I also am currently cruzin' in an old Camry, a bit fewer miles but getting really close to the 200,000 mark, I also ordered a LY MCS though mine will have a black top. I wonder if it is b/c the camry is so common a boring that we went with yellow minis to have something so different.

Exactly what I was thinking when I made my decision. Now I am worring about sticking out too much to the law enforcement folks, I have a minor speeding problem even in the camry. Self control will be required, I will learn disiplin. 'Bout time.

In paint room

Weeeeeeeee. Little automated dude said I am in in the paint shop and scheduled for completion today. Originally, I was told that I would be completed today but that it should be done sooner (back when I called on 6/7). Unfortunatly, this is the first time that they didn't over estimate, but I am not complaining about being on time! Now I need them to get her to the dock in time for the boat on the 21st. Although the one leaving on the 18th would be nice .

PLEEEEAse tell me where you see something that tells you what stage of completion the car is in. I go to OL, and it keeps saying "On Order" eventhough ASK-MINI said it started production yesterday.

Thanks,
Nando

You have to call ASKMINI to find out what stage in production it's in. The OL doesn't tell you that information, it simply says "Scheduled for Production". Btw the OL lags by about 2 days or so, and the automated ASKMINI comp by about a day, so the best way is to call and talk to a rep and ask them.

Well, I checked the Wilhelmsen website this morning and they say that Dominique has been loaded onto a vessel. I still find this a little odd considering that they don't show a single one of their ships being in Southampton today but hey, maybe Dominique is so special, they are loading her onto a custom luxury yacht to make sure she is very comfortable during her long journey across the Atlantic. Seriously the anxiety is getting more and more pronounced the closer she gets.

Dealer Issues

Hi guys,

I think I got good news, but I want to check it our with the crew here before I celebrate. I called ASK-MINI again today, and they told the status code is 150, which means "production has started". I told them the the OL still says that horrible "On Order" message. They said it takes the system some time to update the OL status. So far so good, I figured it has to go thru status codes151- thru 155. Ten minutes later I called my Mini dealer salesperson for a different purpose and she said to me: "Guess what, your Mini has finished production"

Standard human nature is that you want to believe the best news. But is she blowing smoke at me? She proceeded to give me my VIN number and said the car could be two weeks early. The stupid OL still says "On Order". If my car started production yesterday, can it be complete today? She says they have ramped up production in anticipation for the europeans going on vacation in July.

What is an anxious owner to be believe? This could coincide with my lease expiration, and my not having to rent a car.

Can the dealer know more than ASK-MINI? Mini of Manhattan BTW.

Thanks,
Nando

Supposedly, your dealer does have the most current info. I say supposedly, becuase that is way to quick to build the car. It could be the ask Mini people got the start date wrong and it started much sooner. Then it would be right. I boat trip to the east coast is so much shorter (like 14 days) Then you have to hope that it goes through the VDC quickly. After that you dealership needs to schedule time to prep the car. Are you adding many things the dealer needs to install? If so they will need time to do that as well.

Mine has made it to America!

I'm not sure how the "week ##" build thing works, since I was told my car was a week 23 build, which was last week. I called Jerry at Mini of the Hamptons this morning and he told me my car was currently on the dock in New Jersey. He had gotten a delivery yesterday of another car from the same ship, so he expected mine any day now. Maybe he'll be able to send my some pics once it arrives.

I had planned on having him wait to ship it out to me in CA to arrive at the beginning of August, when my Jetta's lease is up, but I don't think I can wait! I'll essentially be paying for two cars for a few weeks, but I am justifying it with the fact that turning my Jetta in a few weeks early will save me money on overage miles. (and I have no wife to convince me to do anything more sensible!)

My Mini's name is Penny: The Penultimate Driving Machine. PW/B MCS, no packages just the computer, stereo, DSC and stripes. For now anyway.

I am jealous! Mine was a week 25 build which would seem to be only 2 weeks later, yet I won't be getting my car for what seems like a month after you. Congrats! I wish I at least knew it was booked on a boat. It was just finished being built today.

Awaiting Transport!

Still can't track Demi on the WW site though. Must be to early. They might need to get her to the dock. But ASK MINI automated voice now says complete and awaiting transport!

They started building my CR/W MCS on Monday. Should be finished by the 24th. Now the real wait begins. They said it should be delivered around 40 days after production has begun. I can't pick it up till August 10th. Already ordered a set of 17" HP Evo Hyper Silver Wheels with 17" Federals.

Hey, our Minis must be fraternal twins. Mine started also on Monday and is schedules for the 24th. But according to my MINI sales rep, I should be able to get it around the 10th of July, in NY. I am not gonna hold my breath, but part of me wants to be optimistic.

I could probably get it sooner but we have to turn in a lease vehicle. So I guess I will have to wait it out.

I am booked on a ship!

My vin finally showed on the WW site. Damn, but the site is down today so I can't see if there has been any change from when I showed as awaiting at terminal on the Orion Diamond. Anyone else booked on this ship?

Have you talked to Julie recently? Talked to her today, and she said alot of the cars in the group buy are going through production faster than she thought, so we're gonna be looking at a late July shipping, maybe even earlier. Mine's already at the VPC due at the dealer by next week

I moved ships.

I am now scheduled on the Hual Triton which set sale on 6/18! I hope that I did make that ship. I still don't show as booked though, which I guess means I might get moved again . Would be so cool if I was able to make that boat.

I called my MA today and got some good news. For any of you whose Mini is at sea on the Emden, she will arrive in Charleston on 6/30. He then told me that it should take about two weeks after that to arrive in Oklahoma City. If all goes well that means that from order to arrival will only be 7 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed and losing too much sleep. This is getting fun!

Hi Barnabas, it's me Skatemom. Hubby has some weird screename here. His car is done and waiting on the docks for the Turandot, but there are 2 other ships leaving before the Turandot. Perhaps he'll get bumped to the earlier ships

If we get there earlier, we may pick up Bagheera and see the other cars from the group buy who are waiting for their transport. If so, I'll take pictures for you all!

Cool! I'm guessing you're gonna pick it up first or second week of July? I would really appreciate if you took some pics for me to drool over Julie already said she'd take pics, but can't have enough Oh and always meant to ask you, what is the meaning of Bagheera? Cool sounding name, but have no idea what it is. I need to start thinking of a name for mine soon...

We're thinking July 16, 17 to fly back there, give or take a day or 2. Since we don't know when the transport will make it to the dealership, it's hard to plan anything for sure.

Bagheera is the name of the panther in the story The Jungle Book. He was a slightly aloof, haughty and sometimes a bit of a bad boy. And of course he was all black, as panthers are.

If you can't think of a name before you get your car, it will probably come to you as soon as you see/drive it. For my car, my daughter and I just looked in a list of baby names. We knew we wanted a female name and maybe something that sounded British. Audrey just jumped out at us when we saw it and it stuck.

3 more weeks then. Wow your husband must be pretty excited, he'll have it in 3 weeks! I never got to read Jungle Book, I grew up in Korea so alot of references I'd know if I grew up here are lost on me. Anyways very fitting for a jet black MCS

I might resort to looking at a book of baby names or such, but would prefer not to..my friends already think I'm nuts lol. I've been thinking of naming him Emmett in honor of Doc Brown from Back to the Future trilogy (my favorite all time movie(s)). Anyways still up in the air, and hopefully it'll hit me when I actually see the car like you said.
