Hi Everyone,
I'm interested in purchasing a 2002 R50.
However, the readout for the odometer is blank
I have searched this site and googled, but alas, no solution found.
Has anybody encountered this problem? Is it a simple or complex
fix? The vehicle looks to be in good shape, but there is no way of
verifying the total amount of mileage travelled. The owner informed
me that the odometer was flicking before it totally disappeared, and
that was 2 years ago! All help would be appreciated.

 

I'll bet the type of scan tool the dealer has can retrieve the odometer reading
even if the odometer display is out. I'll also bet that most pro-level scan tools
(ones that not only read codes but do adaptations, get other readings, etc.)
would be able to fetch it as well. Replacing the speedo cluster would probably
work, but might be too pricey to be worth it (part is about $650 - 700 depending
on which one for your package, and likely may need to be coded to the car/vin
to function).
