R50/53 new motor mount
new motor mount
I just installed a new after market motor mount on the passenger side and went to start the engine this morning and found the engine noisy. The drivers side is still the original Mini motor mount. I didn't change the driver's side because it wasn't leaking.
What do you think is the reason the engine is now noisy. I didn't drive it, I just started it and immediately shut it down so I could double check the engine compartment, just in case I left anything in the engine compartment. Everything looked fine.
Any ideas?

I am not sure. I got it from Way Motor Works.

Yah, that's one brand of a more dense aftermarket mount that will cause more noise&vibration. Just make sure all bolts are torqued and you will be good to go. If you can't tolerate it, you'll need to consider switching back to an oem or oem-equivalent mount.

A motor mount is two metal brackets. One bolts to the engine and the other to the frame of the vehicle. They have bushings in-between the brackets to prevent metal-on-metal wear. If the bushing is bad, it can squeak or if it's worn out completely, you can have metal-on-metal noise.

I kept breaking my trans mount in my 6 speed Trans am, bought a poly trans mount, lasted 1 week till the vibes drove me nuts, removed and found stronger rubber mount. Poly is just too rigid for motor or trans mounts, suspension parts yes, but driveline, not in my cars.
So if I decide I can't live with it, what substitute is there, for a better ride, less vibration, and less noise, that is more like OEM, but will last longer?

bcgreen, which year MCS do you have. The mount that you installed is a TSW motor mount and they produced 2 different styles based on the model year of your mini. Also, did you adjust the length of the dogbone on the mount and reinstall the lower mount bolt?
I didn't adjust the length. I see you can adjust it, but which way do I adjust it and what can I expect from the adj.?
I installed the new lower mount bolt - Torx
