R50/53 to much tire rub help.
to much tire rub help.
i not sure what the problem is but my right rear tire rubs the inside fender a lot.
it has rubbed through the liner so im not sure what else its rubbing.
i thought that the stiffer suspension would help with keeping it from bottoming out and rubbing but it still does it. no other corner rubs excpet the right rear( passenger rear)
is it possible the bumper is sagging and so the tire rubs on that? i have looked at everything structural and nothing looks bent or broken.

I wonder if somebody once took a turn too tight and hit a curb, or maybe a big pothole at some point in the cars history....
Safe to say the struts are OK right? Tires wearing OK?
First thing imo is get an alignment....make sure everything is pretty close to where it should be..
The you can figure if a little less lowering or spacers, or even a repair is needed....

haha i just re-read my post i mean inside the linner NOT the inner part of the liner. its the point where usaly where is with wiider tires from what i read. just outside the liner where the 10-11 o'clock position is.
i do not have posative camber inthe rear. and i have very even tread where on both rear tires.

Just curious, did it rub before you put in the swift springs?
I thought of this yesterday, so thought I'd share my non-expert idea.
With a wheel of et42 or less, they say "You may need to trim fender liner."
Does not say *must*, it says *may*.
I've had my front liner out a few times, and those plastic clips aren't exactly precision fasteners that hold it in place, a few MM here or there, and variances from car to car,....
What are your thoughts? Do you think one of your new Koni's failed out of the box (in that one corner), or maybe the fender liner on that side is just a little closer to the edge? Something else?
Ps- I'm especially interested in this topic, because some recent research I've done led me to believe I could run a 17x7et35 with only a little trimming if anything. You think that would deffinately rub a lot? It will stick out 13mm or 1/2 inch more than stock -whereas I'm not sure of your tire size, but if I'm right that your wheels are 7 wide, and et42, if your tire size is stock, 205/45 then it should only stick out 6mm more than stock.
I'm guessing you had an alignment done after you put in your suspension.
No i did not, what for? there is absolutly nothing to adjust.

Yes with stock suspension it did.

Yes is does say "may" but i did not bother was to busy working on other things

no i do not think they have failed i checked them out there still good. im thinking the liner is probably a little closer than in other cars. my reare bumper looks a bit droopy the gap between the fender and bumper is about 3/8"

My wheels are 17x7 offset 42 backspace of 5.63"..... and i use a 215/45/17

but for the sake of making sure the right rear was not curbed and bent the structure at all ill go and get an alignment at some point in time.
never had this problem with the stock steel 15" rims and 175/60/15 tires probably because they were to small and narrow.

You should have gotten an alignment when you lowered the car. There aren't a lot but there are some alignment adjustments available in the mini...
1. Front Toe
2. Rear Camber
3. Rear Toe
The rear camber/toe would have gone all funky when you lowered the car. Front toe less so. An alignment will help get the rear camber/toe back into spec and you can have them adjust rear camber so it doesn't rub any more.

If it's just rubbing on plastic it will clearance its self. The main thing to watch for are the studs that the liner attaches to. When a friend of mine put bags on his MINI we had to pull the liner out and cut the studs off so he could run fully deflated.
