Do I have to pull the Supercharger?

Do I have to pull the supercharger off in order to replace the water pump on my R53 or can I leave it on and still get the job done? Thanks!

I think you have to gain access to the supercharger which is the majority of the work. And once you're in this deep, most will want to pull the supercharger and to an inspection and oil change.

Yup, while you are in there do yourself a favor and change the SC oil, you will need two bottles which I believe are 4 oz each. It's an extra few bolts and vacuum lines but worth the peace of mind that your SC gears won't run dry and cost you approx. $800-$1000 to rebuild the unit.

The water pump, thermostat and housing, hoses and SC oil are my next project. Check out Pelican Parts tech library, they have a great WP write up.

Cool, thanks guys. Would y'all recommend me doing anything else while I am in there? I just hit 86,000 miles. Is there a write up for SC oil change?

Like Way said, change the gaskets, also Since you are changing the WP get a new part# 11517509170 CONNECTION FLANGE $18.13 with the O ring, once you take the old one off clean the matting surface with a razor blade and some kind of cleaner, make sure is nice and smooth before you put on the new flange with the O ring.

The are a few How to's around but I'm lazy, google it you'll find a few tips. It is very easy just be extra carefully not to damage the bolts by using the right tool and search the torque specs beforehand.

When I changed my oil, I realized that it was full on both ends and clean too for an 89,000 miles car but I'm not the original owner and I was in there already so why not. Good luck and double check everything.
