BSH Lower Motor Mount

So a few months ago I replaced my upper motor mount after discovering the hydraulic fluid had leaked. After replacing the upper mount I noticed no improvement in shifts which were a bit clunky. I figured it was the lower mount and decided to replace it.

I found a local guy on CL who was selling a BSH lower mount which he said he had used once at the track but the extra vibration was too much and he went back to OEM. The mount has about 100 miles on it and looks to be in great shape. I swapped that bad boy in today and yeah, my lower mount was a mess!

Upon starting the car I immediately felt the extra vibration and rattles in the cabin. The cars exhaust also sounded louder but the shifts were nice and smooth. I searched to get people's experience with this mount, break in, vibration etc and only found an old thread. So how are the BSH lower mounts working out for people? What was your initial experience with vibration and did the 1500 mile break in help? Also, is there any way to check by just looking at the mounts if it's the street or race?

At this point I am not sure if I will keep the mount or swap it back to OEM. I love the smooth shifts, quick power delivery and to some extent the added vibration but don't know if I can live with the rattles and squeaks. to BSH though, the mount was very well constructed and looked like a quality piece.

To much vibration for DD... Made my teeth rattle.. since there's no bushing on the "engine side" that whole 1500 mile "break in period" is out the window..
Took mine off, swapped it for some other stuff..
Went back to the stock option with powerflex bushings... Still get some vibration.. but it's not as intense as the BSH.. the gear shifts are just as smooth..

If i were gonna go on a "Track Day" i would think the BSH would be on point, very stiff.

From what i gather, both street and race look the same, the "race" version
uses even stiffer rubber on the mount.

Just get the powerflex inserts. Stiffer than stock, but not nearly as aggressive as the bsh. Cheaper too. Just plugs into the oem mount. Got them as I was worried about the bsh being too stiff and I'm very pleased.

I have the TSW upper mount, BSH lower and Powerflex gearbox inserts, if vibrations are an issue for you, you may not like it. Personally, I don't care. One thing to keep in mind tho is that when those are new, they will shake more but it will settle down after a while.

After reading everyone's experiences (and noticing the lack of a bushing on the one side as well) I decided to pass on BSH and go for Vibratechnics (but the VT still has NVH as well, but probably not as bad)

It is possible to ID the BSH track/street version, but you'll likely have to take it down to inspect it this closely. For the life of me (and 20 mins of searching) I can't find the image, but I saw it last month. It shows the bushing end stree/track side-by-side and you can see one has more concentric rings (like on a tree's trunk). I'll try and keep looking for you...

Update: I'm sorry, I can't seem to find the comparison image. It is out there somewhere...

Just a little update:

After 3 days with the mount I can already feel it "breaking in." It may just be me getting used to the added vibration but the rattles at idle and 1st gear are beginning to quiet down but are def still there. Starting the car is interesting, you can really feel the started kicking on. The engine response is still great.

It's only been a few days but so far it has improved enough for me to keep the mount. Next project is to silence the rattles with a new to me Borla exhaust

Go for it!

I have the BSH street LM and it took about 2 weeks to settle a bit and had the same experience when I installed the TSW upper mount to replace the leaking OEM mount.
I have no regrets, the engagement feel suits my taste and I don't have to worry about leaky OEM mount anymore. It is raw and immediate.
Start with the BSH, engine 'rocking' was better controlled than my VIP Custom #723 Engine Stabilizer (now for sale).
