R50/53 2004 v 2005
Hello,,,
I am going to order a S. I have not looked into the new model much. My question is... Should I order the 04 now or wait a few months and order the 05. I do not mind waiting if it is worth it. I plan to order the indi blue. However, I read it will change for 05.
Thanks
Darren

If you want indi blue get your order in now.
The replacement is called Hyper Blue. Motoringfile:: Hyper Blue

my understanding is that any car ordered now was going to be a 2005 make........and that to get a 2004 you would have to get one off the lot. now this is probably true if you are ordering a complete custom, and not something the dealer may have on order already.
but these are rumours going around, and i may not be helping by repeating them..........but i figure even disinformation can be informative at times.

All cars built July 2004 and later will be a 2005 build. So, if you order a new car for a May or June build, it'll be a 2004. Any later and it'll be a 2005. There's lots of threads about the 2005 changes and plans -- run a seach on "2005" and you should find some good discussion. (Also try a search at mini2.com and look at motoringfile.com.)
Personally, I'm waiting. I had a May build order and I scrapped it. And I wanted Indi Blue, too -- it is a real shame they're axing it. The gearing and engine will change enough in the 2005 (~10hp gain, better gearing) that I think it is worth it to wait, esp. for resale value.

Honestly, I don't think resale value will be that significantly different from the 2004's.
It all comes down to what really its important to you and what you can realistically afford.

No, it will be different. Think of it as the same tone of the current Dark Silver Metallic but with a blue color.
Seems nice and a worthy successor to IB.

To bad I really liked the Indi blue. However, I think I want the 05.
Thank you all for your comments. I will check those sites out. I spoke to the dealers around me and they all want sticker price no deals. AND a 4month order wait.

Really? In the near-term certainly, but, in, say, 2008, won't a 2005 sell for more than a 2004? You'll take a bit of hit because a July, 2004 "2005" will likely have more miles on it than a June, 2005 "2005," but other than that, no one really knows when you bought it.
(I agree, though, that the mechanical changes alone won't make much differnence as far as resale goes -- perhaps that was what you meant.)
