R53 suspension

I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with koni yellows on the r53

I was interested in them because of the price, and the fact that i can use them on the stock springs, im really wanting an adjustable shock absorber but i want to maintain the stock ride height, i barely get enough clearance where i live and since it snows i dont want to be plowing lol

Does anybody have an idea on any good coilovers that can still let me maintain my stock ride height?

And as i mentioned before, anybody have any experience with koni yellows? With the stock ride height maybe?

Thanks in advance!

definitely stick with koni yellows or fsd only because if you want stock ride height but better handling you want to go Koni or bilstein as they are known for great valving...

i dont recommend the cheaper coilovers maybe except for the lower end st/kw only because the shocks are valved poorly (IMO)

We've used the Yellows many times and AutoX'd on them all the time. They are really the best adjustable stock replacement shock available.
And yes the price on them right now is killer, you can't go wrong with them. If you do go to coilovers later you can always resale the yellows.

Im probably gonna stick to the koni yellows, when i bought the car i had koni fsd's, but the car had been in an accident and was missing 1 of the fsd's so i have about a 75% idea of what koni fsd's feel like haha

And bo worries! The accident didnt affect the chassis, i have no camber plates at all and the mini doesnt really have front camber adjustment, but i put it in an alignment rack and everythings perfect haha

I swapped over to oem shocks and im running lower control arm polyurethane bushings, a h&r front sway bar and a 22mm rear alta sway.

I like tweaking the suspension in my car, thats why i want the koni yellows, but i did not like how the suspension felt with the fsd, not because of ride quality but because of the way the car turned on tight corners, and thats whats keeping me away from non adjustable shocks

I know koni only has rebound adjustment, but that is basically what im looking for, my rebound is way too soft on stock shocks and therefore i need an upgrade, but i want a specific amount for my driving style

I like my Koni Yellows. Better ride and handling than stock. I run a mild drop spring.

I have Koni yellows on h-sport springs which are old, worn and no good.

I need a good suggestion on a spring to run! im leaning more to a daily driver setup, so nothing aggressive.. just swapped out coilovers for this setup and have another car as a track toy.

WAY - I neeeed those TSW springs you have coming ??? PLEAAASEE!!!

Just put Koni yellows on with swift springs and it's a night and day difference . You should look into the swift springs

We've installed the Yellows on stock setups, particularly on Auto X cars, including Mark Chiles' 2 time national champion car. The ride was noticeably stiffer than stock, but it just ate up the bumps.

I looked at the swift springs, they really dont lower the car that much, i will definately buy this set whenever i get the chance to buy springs for it

At the moment i dont even have the cash to buy the shocks, but i think the shocks will be my first buy, im definately not buying coilovers as that exceeds waaaay over what i have in mind

Mostly i just wanted to make sure koni yellows were a good and reliable option to go with

Adjusted down to soft it's much better than stock IMO.

The Swifts are good, but the rates are a little firm. I'd also like an even milder drop.

I think my Tein H-techs were the best all-around spring out there, and I really don't like Tein. But they're discontinued. Most didn't like that the drop was so small.

They drop 3/4" which gets rid of the wheel gap (what I was going for) Living in CT i didn't want to go too low because of the snow and crappy roads. And the ride to me is better than stock.

maybe ill go with stock springs + yellows..

what about the JCW springs+yellows?? that sounds like a good setup in theory as mini would want to keep some of the harness out of their setups.

I think JCW + Koni Yellow would be a great set-up. Hopefully the springs are still available.
