oil filter question ?

Was just looking at the napa gold oil filter for 06 mcs. The filter has hard plastic rings on end of filter but some different brand filters seem to have rubber rings on end of filter and felt on the other end from what I seen researching.

Any reason why they would not all be same?

Suggestion....
Buy the OEM or the MANN ( a euro brand thought to be one of 2 oem makers).
What happens is the O-Ring that goes around the can that holds the filter can be slightly undersized or over-sized, and leak/tear on install.
Not sure why one maker makes the filter different...
I think the NAPA gold is WIX.

You can also get multi-packs from some vendors,,,,a suggestion...get a kit the first time so you get the socket to get the filter off...
36mm Oil Filter Socket for all R50 R52 R53 MINI Cooper and Cooper S 2002-2006. This 36mm socket is extra short to allow easier access to the oil filter housing. It also uses a standard 3/8 drive ratchet for use. 6 point socket design to prevent rounding. Made from heavy duty steel, not cheap aluminum for lifetime of use.

or the 1st change kit...

Has a nice magnetic drain plug too!!
They have similar kits for gen2 cars!!

I've had no issues with WIX.
