Is it POSSIBLE to get the paint code from one of you?

You see, I am undertaking a project. I am attempting to paint an AutoART 1:18 MINI Cooper MCS that is already CR/W to make it IB/W. Someone (thank you, resmini) suggested I may be able to get the paint code from an Indi Blue owner. I don't know if perhaps it's where the color plate is or how you would find it.

But I want an exact match, and I will then go to the auto paint store to have it matched up.

Thanks so much if you can get this for me. If I'm successful, I promise to show pictures and offer tips when I'm done (seeing how the AutoART does not make the model in IB.

My dear lord, the internet is a wonderful thing....

I did some research, and I answered my own question!!!

The paint code for INDI BLUE METALLIC is as follows:

BMW - 862
PPG - 113926
Dupont - M8736

I cross checked the 862, and it was correct!

I already went last night and ordered the paint. Oh, my Dad and I are turning this into a full blown project - some father/daughter bonding time. We are going to do it right - we are first going to paint the blue, and then the clear coat over it, just like the autobodyshop would do it.

The most difficult part though is going to be taping everything up real good. I should receive the autoart model tonight, so I will see what, if anything will come apart for easier painting. I mean, it got put together, it can come apart, right? Yeah, unless it's totally glued and or welded into place, then we are just off to tape city.

But I worry about peeling off the taped parts and removing some of the new blue paint along with it, or leaving a bad edge. Dad said something about using an exacto knife in some places.

But it's funny - by the time I got done buying all the paints and reactants and clear coats and all that, I had spent more than the car was worth even.
