R50/53 Zip-tied Shutoff Valve --> Immediately more boost --> threw engine light
Zip-tied Shutoff Valve --> Immediately more boost --> threw engine light
I zip tied my shutoff valve closed just now to see why I was having boost lag. The results were immediate and The supercharger now delivers full boost with no delay. So I have pinpointed that I need a new shutoff valve.
I threw a check engine light after a few minutes of test driving.
If I remove the zip tie, does it go away?
If I keep the zip tie there is that bad in any way?

Leaving the zip tie on the bypass valve really shouldn't be done, the ECU will prob. see this as a prob. therefore giving you that light, not to mention poorer fuel milage, and the longer you keep it like that, the more compensations the ECU will try & make for it, that will have to then be made again when you fix the problen and everything has to go back to where it is now again.
Drive it w/o the zip tie a few days, if the light doesn't go out on it's own it just may simply have to be cleared, any local Autozone type place can do it for you.
