15% Supercharger Pulley?
I am looking to install a 15% pulley on my supercharger. I drive my 06' MCS as my daily driver. Could you please address as many of the following questions as possible:
Would you advise I do this with my DD?
MY MCS has 66K miles on it, is this a concern?
Will I increase the maintenance requirements of my MCS by installing this pulley?
Will I be able to notice the difference in power?

Many vendors offer packages with the belt, pulley and plugs.

For my daily driver i went eith a 17%....for a car not brought to redline often, it is an option too.
both provide s similar drivability improvements, with the 17% building boost slightly earlier...so lower rpms.
with any pulley, just change the belt more frequently than oem....the smaller contact surface promotes wear, and aftermatket belts are a bit less durable than the oem's, but needed to get a shorter length tyat is need to prevent slippage.
I suggest a 15% pulley, every 2 years for a belt, the 17% yearly, about a 15 minute job with a mini belt tensioner, about a 85$ item, and a $25 belt....the tensioner tool can be used again and again.
Power...yes you will notice....if you drive very nice, you might even get a slight mpg gain, but very hard, since the power is so accessible.....you will smile like it is the first drive in your mini again!!

As Zippy said 17% is a safe option too. I am running a +2% crank pulley too. so close to the same as a 17% reduction pulley. Yes, keep an eye on the belt. I change mine at least once a year, or 25k isn.

if you dont want to buy it rent it for 200 you get about 160 back from Alta when you send it back i think its free with a alta pulley purchase. I dont adivse using anything but the puller, the oem pulley is pressed on, cant damage that supercharger shaft, and heat is dangerous as well.
You can find installation instructions online. It requires alot of detail and the correct tools. If you have any doubts get it professionalt installed. It helps to call around and find a shop capable of this bofore you get it delivered, i had to sit on mine for a while. To save time make copies of the instructions and drop it off at local Autohouses. Make sure they specialize in imports, at least my mini gets certified work.

I was planning to go with the shorter belt, are the plugs a requirement? I just purchased [NGK BKR6EQUP (3199)].

If you havent ordered yet i would research the 17%.
Max boost for the 17 is 15psi, someone correct me if im wrong.
No modding to any component is needed, supercharger service is needed for 25+ psi. Im not sure how many psi call for bigger injectors, but that is far away now, the 17% is IN THEORY more "dangerous" but many prototypes were made as small as 22%. With 17% reduction the supercharger will reach "maximum velocity" ill call it, at around 6k RPM. Meaning it is generating so much heat to keep charging your engine with cool air, it simply cant anymore resulting in loss of performance. All this means is staying away from redline. BUT take this into consideration, im not sure where, but i read online one day at lunch with my buddy hes got a camaro ss and was looking up my boost info. Stock our coopers start building touque at 4K, and stop building around, i cant remember exactly, but around 6000k (almost redline). Horsepower does peak here. Meaning when going for performance shifting BEFORE redline would keep you in the torque range into and from each gear resulting in maximum accleration. In theory?

interesting....i havent gone for a dyno or a tune just yet, im going to try to finish my build, but though i was peaking at 15! Whats the best way to get psi readings?
Except for the fact you already bought plugs, you should really look into a "Pulley Package" from one of the vendors (Way Motor Works, Detroit Tuned, Helix) that way you'll get everything you need and you can rent "the right" puller from them & just return it when you're done.
And since you don't have a JCW car, you should be fine doing the job yourself.

So Ive been reading through this site for a while and finally signed up a few days ago, and I have a question that nobody is asking or stating.
Do we need a re-tune for a pully swap?
I come from LSx motors and when messing with things like pullies/boost etc its always best to get a retune for safety reasons and performance reasons.

With a 15% you will not need a tune but you should get one step colder plugs like the NGK 4285. You will need a smaller belt as well. Many vendors on here offer a pulley package with plugs,belt and pulley.
