Oil leak...

Hey guys,

So I'm not much of a car person. I've done a couple things to the outside of my car but nothing inside the engine.

I've noticed a pretty slow leak of something from my car. I park on the street and I have build ups of oil or something where I park.

I had an oil change like 4000 miles ago and they didnt say anything was wrong. I went to a local shop not a mini dealer or anything

I've also been smelling something when I get out of my car after driving or while I'm driving and have the windows down. I'm scared I might do something bad to my car if I dont figure it out.

My car is a 2006 R53 with about 72000 miles.

Any advice??

Side issue: I've been trying to get my rear wiper assembly off and cant pull the wiper off the back. I took off the bolt, noticed a lot of residue, scraped it and sprayed it with WD40 for a couple of days periodically and no dice... I even tried a pry bar on it (carefully) and cant get it...

You cant see where the oil is coming from. Jack it up and get under it.

That is a lot of oil. I suspect a bad filter change and it is leaking from the canister o-ring. But first since this is 4000 miles old, check to be sure that there is still oil in the engine. Then bring it back to where they did the change.

It could also be from the drain plug, but again, without looking it is hard to tell.

There are other places where the R53 leaks, but start with these first as again, that is a lot of oil.

Can't answer without really seeing how much is leaking. Just check the oil level daily until you narrow it down to the problem. It can be from the crank sensor o ring, oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, oil filter, drain plug or dipstick tube seal. Really look under the hood and car to see if you can narrow it down as soon as you can. Just my opinion.

Take a sheet of plastic and lay it under the car when you park it at night. If you carefully mark where the wheels are you will have a map of the location of the leak and how much it leaks overnight.
