I just sold my SUV on ebay about 1/2 hour ago. I truly didn't think it would sell.

Now, the hard part. My best friend has the MC/PW/B, manual, which would have been my first choice.

I am going to get a MC. I've been toying with getting a CVT. This color choice is making my head spin. How do you ever really know what to get? I think I will get Silver and read what others say and talk myself out of it. I like red and think it's so common.

Any thoughts would be so appreciated. I live in the snowbelt, near Chicago, if that helps. The CVT transmission is really a concern too.

Oh-thank you to those who answered my HK question.

Non-metallic colors (including the ever-popular Chili Red) are easier to touch up if you ever have any paint damage. Something to think about.

tomgirl,
Go with your heart no matter what others think or drive! Even if you get a "common color you can style it in so many ways that it won't be exactly the same as any other. I don't really think you can say any MINI color is "common", considering there are less than 70,000 in USA!
MINI sales figures

There is a Chicago Motoring Club forum here on NAM - you could go there and get helpful advice from "the locals"

tomgirl,
Welcome to NAM. Way to be, selling your SUV and getting MINI.
Go for the opposite of your best friend with Black/White. What a statement you two would make together. Yin and yang, this and that, push and pull, . . .

LOL...

Don't think I didn't think about this, but tongues will already be wagging.

I wear black and I love the "non-color", but I'm afraid every swirl will show and I'm

already obsessed with spots and marks and will want it perfect. I will never sleep.

With Dice-gal's PW...we stand back and look at all angles to make sure it's

purrrrrfect. Can you see me with black?

CVT is a fantastic transmission. We have a 17 month old 2002 Cooper CVT (Pepper White/Black) with 22,100+ troublefree miles.

Get it. You won't regret it!

And..

Welcome to the club!

All I can say is get what you want. I normally hate white cars, but the PW/B looks really good. Living in Northern Michigan my BRG/W is not the smartest choice to keep clean, but I have always wanted that classic British Green color on a car. Now my debate is to put some bonnet and boot stripes on it....

Transmission choice, best thing I can think of is to drive them. The only questionable thing about the CVT I have heard is they tend to 'push' the brakes at low speeds around 10mph. Do your research and test it. It seems like it would great to drive in the city.

I had the same problem. Then I started looking at cars of similar colors. The older the car the better. Then after watching my color choices for a couple of weeks, I decided to go with my color of choice. I used VW beetles for my test samples.
Everytime I would see the color - I would guage my reaction. It came down to the LY or IB. IB won because no matter when I saw it I smiled. Also - my son -in-law helped when he saw a LY MINI he said the first thing he thought of was taxi. That NEVER crossed my mind. But it stuck.

Good Luck. It's definitely a hard choice to make. If I were to tell you a clor choice - it would have to be EB/B. After the IB/W, it's my number one choice. Not too trendy and the black just gives it the classic look.

Have fun! And Welcome to MotorOnMadness!

Woohoo!!! One more SUV off America's roads!

Good luck with your color selection. Fortunately I didn't go through that agonizing decision process. Once I saw the IB/W I knew it was for me. Go with your heart and all will be well.

Tomgirl welcome to NAM. The color choice seems to be one of the hardest things every MINI owner goes through. You just have to look at all the possible combinations and then go with your heart.

TGMRobyn and hafid – tomgirl says she’s getting a MC; Electric Blue is not a color the MC comes in though I think it’s one of the nicest offered IMHO.

Congrats on the sale

For the color, try to look at as many MINIs as you can. Call the dealer and show up after a bunch of trucks come in.

We had our hearts set on EB/B, but once we saw a BRG/W on the lot, the choice was made instantly! Good luck.

Interesting sales figures...do you think there is any place we can go to get a breakdown of what colors were sold? I have EB/W and I figured it would become a "common" color but find that nobody seems to have many of those...wierd.

Since you are particular about the paint, here is something to consider. If you are getting a contrastng roof, they are painted no-metallic, so painting the rest of the body with a metallic aint may annoy you, it did for me at least.
I would get a CVT if I were getting a Cooper. I have heard bad things about the 5 speed.
