R50/53 Got my production number - can't decide on color!!!
Hello All,
Waiting for my MINI is tough. Every time I see a MCS I get all excited and then depressed that mine's not here until early June.
I initially ordered a DS/Blk (Blk bonnet stripes) MCS, but I saw a Chili Red/Blk (Blk bonnet stripes) today and I started questioning my color choice. I called my MA and he said that I have until the end of this week to finalize. So now I need your help. All you DS/Blk/Blk and Chili Red/Blk/Blk owners out there, please post pix ASAP!!!
Thanks for your help.

I had a really hard time making a final decision on color as well. I was torn between CR/W and IB/W. Ultimately, I chose CR/W and I love it but I still think IB looks great. In fact almost all the colors look great on the MINI. If I had to choose between your two options I'd go for DS/B. That was one of the color combos I thought about for awhile. Either way, you can't go wrong. Check out the gallery for plenty of pics.
CR/B is a fairly rare color combo, and looks really, really nice. I have the chili red (Cooper with a white top) and love it beyond words. I think the MINI chili red is a great classic sports car color that you just can't go wrong with, no matter how popular it is. Dark silver looks nice too, but it doesn't the MINI justice, IMHO.
(Flame away, DS owners - your cars are beautiful, but not (I think) as beautiful as mine!)

Oh boy, here we go!! Color choices are so subjective...hence the agony. I'm sure you'll get "an opinion or two" on this one!!!!
DS/B = classy, serious. CR/B = cheeky, in-yo-face, and a classic Mini color scheme. If it were me I'd definitely go with DS.......no, wait CR.......uh, no, how about........

I have CR/W and I love it. The problem I have with the silver/gray colors is this. Go to a new car lot and look at the many, many cars in varous shades of silver and gray and maybe white and beige and tan and.......to me at least to many colors that blend with each other. I like bright red, bright yellow, electric blue, colors that jump out and say "look at me", especially for my MINI.
Of course this is just my opinion and an awful lot of people apparently disagree because there are a of "earth tones" out there.
One more thing, I didn't consider any of the metallic colors because I was to tight to spend $400 extra for paint.
Whatever you decide on you'll second guess your choice, but when it arrives you'll say, "this is beautiful". Don't worry.

Well. I vote for my color, Pepper White with a black Roof. My second choice was a Liquid Yellow with a White roof. Color is the toughest choice of all....

Whatever you do, DO NOT GET A BRG job........fair warning......

BRG = a great choice.
PW = another great choice.
CR = yet another great choice.
IB = yep, still another great choice.
EB = add to the list of great choices.
CB, JB, DS, PS = oh, will the list of great colors never end.
LY = nope, don't get it. Too nice, especially under black.

red black is much more uncommon. if you have money for aerokit, the black grill looks very nice with this color combo. a pic for you.

I like both of those choices. Saw a DS/B with black stripes in the showroom when I picked up my car and thought it looked great.
But my vote would be for CR/B. Like others have said it's just not a very common combination so you'd be a bit more unique.

I'm more of a one colour kind of guy. That's why my car is CR/CR. I say think outside the box. Go with IB/IB, EB/EB can be a real eye opener. One of my favourites is BRG/BRG even if it really isn't a true BRG.
Now if you really want to stand out from the Mini crowd paint the roof in a colour that you don't usually see on the new Mini. CR with a silver roof and silver bonnet stripes. Very Sweet. A classic Mini colour combination. Classic Minis also had the mirrors painted silver as well. Or Silver with a blue roof and blue mirrors. This is the colour combination that BMW uses on it's Hydrogen powdered Mini.
The colour will be the hardest part of buying the car. Just remember to go with what you like, since you have to live with the choice.
Good Luck!

I would suggest going with CR. There are just so many silvers on the road...
Keep in mind I was originally going to order a DS as well. I thought about it with friendly NAM-ers and came to the conclusion that as sharp as DS is....it's not a
color and, for me, I needed a MINI that yells MINI!
When I see the DS in person, I always do think it's a great-looking car...but there's just somthing about that EB.....I love it.
So if CR is your version of EB...I'd go for it! CR with black is a really hot combo and not that many people have it on the roads.

According to Randy (Webb, Mr. Mod) the BRG's dyno higher than any other color. Wacky but it just might be true.
CR is for the "lookatmeeeeeee" crowd - 100% extroverts
DS is much more Teutonic in nature - say MEE NEE COOPAH
IB is, of course, the "best all around" color. I mean what color Cooper does Charlie Croker drive?

I was hemming and hawing about the color combo for a while. Turned out I could save 400 bones, and went with the CR/B for my MC. I've seen some pics and I think it's a sporty little combo. May can't come any quicker.
As long as you don't live in Cleveland, go with the CR/B

I am biased towards the CR/B combo as I have a CR/W MCS. Red is a classic color for the MINI and makes the car stand out big time.
I am not a silver/gray car type of person (But I like white cars, hence we also have a Pepper White/Balck roof Cooper) but DS looks the business specially at night.
If you go with CR you will automatically save $400 (Reason #1 I have never considered metallic paint for my MINIs) that you can apply towards other mods.
Also another interesting tid bit: Silver and gray cars are more difficult to see at night by other drivers, so there you go a safety concern that you won't have with a red car.
