R50/53 What comes with the purchase of a MCS?
Hey all.
Got my MCS coming in about 7 weeks (BRG/W, Premium pack, cold weather pack, fog lights, aux input, invisishield all around). This is my first new car (owned a million used cars over the years... but this is the first new one!!)
What I am wondering is what things come with the car when you take it home. Obviously you get the owners manual and misc paperwork. But is there anything else? My friend got some kind of video when he bought a Jeep, as well as subscription to some kind of Jeep magazine). My dealer already gave me a little model of a Mini (in the correct colors!), but I am wondering if there is anything else.
Thanks!

wmba,
Aloha from Hawaii and welcome to NAM.
It may depend on your MA and your sales dept. Freebies are possible so you have plenty of time to get to visit your dealership and let them know how jazzed you are.
Be creative. Do a count down and make MINI stuff to celebrate the end of each week.
Send/make custom cards to remind your MA.
Since the dealership makes enough profit off of each sale they can do things for you if you give them a reason.
Be visible. If there are MINI events see if you can attend or join in.
My owner's leather case had a CD with MINI info on it. Some people report getting a car cover- I didn't. Or a cup or backpack or something. Early on in 2002 they gave away music CDs and a shirt with the # of the MINI which the dealer sold but they stopped at #300 in my area and I was #308 or something.
I bought a bunch of dealer parts at the time I got my MINI and got the staff 10% discount. White tail lights and aero grills. Ask for some touch up paint!
Be handy and make your own MINI shirt. Or find some nice college art student who is good at graphics and knows how to do iron on shirt transfers.

I got a CD: MINI and the Monkees!
Also got a couple boxes of MINI MINTS (Smints)
Later, I got a coffee cup in the mail and a couple other small gifts.
I've also gotten lots of silly give-away marketing stuff like barf bags, unscented air fresheners, and about 10 Italian Job movie posters

My dealer always has given me lots and lots of frebbies (Well after all I bought 2 new MINIs from them within 1 year), but it mostly depends on your MA and if the dealer has a precendent to either give a couple of frebbies or none at all.
Your best bet is to get feedback from other NAM posters that may have purchased from the same dealers as yours in the past.

You also get to have neverending arguments about whether the MC or the MCS is a) quicker, b) cuter, c) funner, d) ecological, e) shinier, etc., etc......
My condolences on your choice of color. You're in for a BIG dissappointment. Best thing to do, really, is not to challenge anyone to speed or handling contests.....you will lose by a LOT. don't be embarassed though, plenty of people have been suckered in by the allure of the color. You are not alone. then again, you could call the dealer and cancel it, Get a nice black or white one.....they are the fastest ones.....
