Is there any other dealer besides St. Louis that is still charging a $500 premium for "floor mats"? I'm trying to buy my second MCS and the guys won't budge. I can drive 300 miles and get one for $500 under window sticker, but I can't imagine why the local dealer won't budge! If he would just sell for straight window sticker I'd buy. Any thoughts or advice? I'm looking for a silver with black, all three packages and leather and want to buy right now!

Ha!

You should see how it is in California!

People are letting dealers get away with charging thousands over MSRP -- they just rationalize it by thinking it's not that much more a month. PT Barnum is proven right a lot out here.

300 miles is not that far to go to save $1000. Maybe you could fly there and drive it back...

Crazy! I bought mine with 50 miles on it from another BMW dealer in StL that is not an authorized Mini dealer. They had done a dealer trade with a dealer in Jersey for a 7 series just because they wanted one on the lot. I bought it two days later for more than a thousand under window sticker. And it had the nav system I wanted in it, wich is hard to find. I tried buying one from the mini dealer but I just won't deal with someone who will not budge and is selling for $1000 more than guys in three other cities within a 5 hour drive! Now I'm trying to buy the second one and the guy is ticked that I didn't buy the first from him! It's not like I didn't try!

Have you said to the dealer, "I want to buy a MINI now, if you will sell one to me now at MSRP I'll buy it from you, if not I'm going elsewhere today"? If you say this and they won't sell you a car at MSRP then move on. If it was me I'd be happy to make the drive to save another $500.

Bought my MINI at Roadshow. Are you aware that there is a $249 "documentation fee" and a Memphis tax which will be about $60 added to the MSRP at Roadshow? If this is where you're getting $500 off MSRP then that'll take care of these charges. Just wanted to be sure you knew this.

Thanks for the info. yes, it looks like they'll give me $500 off sticker as well as waive that dealer fee. I'll double check though before driving down there. I've made deals for cars over the phone before and you have to work out every detail and then it's up to trusting the guy you're dealing with to not jerk you around. Sounds like the guys at Roadshow are good guys. It just ticks me off that Mini of St. Louis would rather lose a sale to Memphis than sell for window sticker. I'd pay that here which would still be $500 more than Memphis just to have the convenience. But they insist on $500 over. I guess that's why they are such a small dealer.

I'm glad I didn't have to deal with that at MINI of Sterling, or is it Sterling MINI, whatever. I have found that my dealer charges considerably more for dealer installed parts than most dealers though. $6900 for the JCW package? $995 for the invisishield thing? I think not. I did spring for the Accesory port on the stereo for $139 though.

Roadshow was fine but I would still recommend that you have them send you a fax with the exact cost and exactly what you'll be getting. They won't mind doing this and it's just a good idea.

Let us know what you do.
