I'm curious about something. When you purchased your MINI, other than the options you ordered, did the dealer give you anything else i.e. free floomats, tshirts, etc...

I am just curious as I am getting ready to order mine and want to see how dealers around the nation handle this.

I got free floor mats, a T-shirt, a key chain and dealer cost on a boot box and a car cover, (later returned the POS car cover). Oh, I also got a $350 discount off MSRP.

When I got my '04 MCS my dealer threw free floor mats (Had a choice of cloth or rubber MINI mats, when with the cloth), a pair of MINI sunglasses (valued at $65) a 1/18 AutoArt MCS diecast model (DS/B) complete with working sunroof, carpeted interior, fully detailed photoetched and plumbed engine..really nice (Valued at $70). Also got a pair of Keychains.

I wont discuss the price....cuz a) I'd never get a deal again and b) all the credit should go to madam treasurer only.......lets see, I got a nifty key chain to which my ONE (GGRRR) fancy key is forever attached to, and I also got a little (not so little) Mini toy car......actually two.....both BRG (are they bug ugly or what? people ought to stop buying them, ughhh)

I think I got a pen...I paid for the mats. Oh, and some weeks later a MINI mug showed up in the mailbox. Fortunately, I was happy just to have the car...the other stuff was incidental.

Well, lets see. I got a free official MINI coffee mug that actually fits in the front cupholders, I got the MINI-fini cupholder, a nice key fob with my dealer's phone number on it. Also, the dealer installed options that I purchased when I got the car were rubber mats, wheel locks and euro parcel shelf. These 3 IMHO are a must, the rubber mats are excellent since anything that spills (or if one of your drunk college buddies throw up in my case) is easily cleaned up, wheel locks are something all of the cars in my family have, very cheap insurance. The parcel shelf I couldn't think of living without since I only drove my MINI a few hundred miles before putting it on, it's a great place to store garage door opener, wallet, pack of gum, house keys and stuff like that and it's totally out of site if anyone looks in the car.

key fob, pen, mints and four "Mini Mix" music cds: "urban soundscape," "rural soundscape," "the early years '59-'69" and "Mini and the Monkees," all from Mini of Towson in MD. And a computer cd that is an owner's manual on video.

rubber floor mats, bonnet strips and free installation on the aux input.

I fought tooth and nail to get these tho. When I went to put down the deposit, the salesman was more than visibly pissed off about everything. Two dealers offered the same and when I asked one of them to beat the other by another set of mats, or even a free MINI pen the salesman told me flat out NO and was willing to give up the current sale, and the future sale of my sister's Cooper S for that extra 20-40 bucks.

kinda left a bad taste in my mouth about the dealership.

oh well

I ordered my MINI from Roadshow in Memphis. Got the discount over the phone without having ever been to the dealer by using the fact that I was getting an 03 and the 04s would soon be out and that it was a 250 mile drive to the dealer. I ordered my car around the first of August, 03. They put the $350 discount and the dealer cost items I bought in writing and faxed me the agreement. While I was waiting for six weeks for my car to arrive my original MA left Roadshow. The guy who took over from him seemed shocked that I had gotten any discount.....but I got it.

I think a discount is possible if you try and aren't afraid to say no and go to another dealer if necessary. I know that's kind of hard because there aren't that many dealers......good luck.

What did I get with the delivery of my Mini that I didn't pay for -- hmm - let me think ---- Oh yeah - NADA - I got no mats - key fobs - hats - t shirts etc. - they were for sale- but for free? - are you out of your mind! As usual I left the showroom feeling violated - only saving grace was that I had my Mini.

Having placed my order 10 months before the first mini would arrive on US soil,MiniUSA must have felt sorry for me, cause I got a pen , the orange travel mug, and a hat long before I even went to the dealership to spec my mini out.At delivery, I got a key cable(broken twice and finally replaced with a better design) and a very cool t shirt of the speedometer with the # 173 on the odometer indicating that I was the 173rd customer to take delivery from them(Mini Peabody). They only made up 200 of these.Other than that, nuthin.Oh yeah, after one of my 6 windshields they gave me back my key with a fancy round key fob with their name and phone # engraved on it, and the mini wing logo on the back.PK got me 3 shirts for the help I gave him in identifying windshield people, that was way cool .Good luck getting the free stuff, and enjoy the new mini!

I just emailed the dealer I've been talking to, and asked about any freebies...she says (I'm not supposed to know this, it is a suprise) they give new owners $50 MINI MONEY to spend on accessories...
So, I guess when it comes right down to the nitty gritty I will just ask for some floor mats and maybe a parcel shelf at dealer cost. I don't think thats too much to ask.

Does anyone else remember when FLOOR MATS came standard on cars?

Travis

I recieved two key chains and a swiveling full size cup holder. I ordered from mini of the Hamptons. But I would have been happy with just the car too.

We got a hat, t-shirt, keychain, Italian Job DVD, and a few other trinkets. Paid for the mats and a boot box, that I think is the best accessory they offer.

The mints didn't survive the train trip from Mini of the Hamptons to Southern California. The two nice MOTH key chains were still boxed. They don't fit the MINI key but are nice and have a little flashlight that glows red. The best freebie was the all nice people at MOTH ; we have to pay extra in SoCal to be mistreated by MINI dealers.

Momentum in Houston gave me a keychain with their phone number on it. Wowee! They also charged me a friendly $350 dealership service fee in addition to the cost of the car. Just another way for them to make a buck! I paid inflated rates for the floor mats and wheel locks.

But later I did get quite a few small goodies from MINI USA (mug, notebook, motoring game, pen, etc). I can't complain because my MINI was the best thing I got out of the whole deal!
