SB is awesome. No placebo, it works.

While the D-Spec 1 is gaining popularity due to cost and function there are also a few draw backs. The control unit for the dash is about the size of a Garmin Navigation unit so requires a larger mounting location. It also monopolizes the use of your OBDII port so if you have any other devices in your MINI such as an iPad or lap top with datalogging software or even a scanguage II for that matter, there would be a conflict with using that port.

I just installed a D-Spec controller and would recommend it. The obd socket in the car can be removed from the bracket. There is a blue clip on the back side that slides over and then the socket snaps out you can then use a obd splitter so that you can plug in a scan gauge and throttle controller. The D-spec can be unplugged at any time and the throttle will function as normal. The eco settings on the D-Spec also allow a decreased throttle response for low traction conditions.

Fair points, Dave, but something like
this splitter this splitter
should nicely resolve the latter issue.

Thanks for the posts, guys. I've been wanting to try the Sprint Booster, but didn't like the price. Good to know there is another option.

You can easily hard wire it in. You don't have to use the port.

Ok, in the spirit of it all I took a spin in a MCS with the DSpec1. MINI was equipped with a stock exhuast, airbox, a 17% SCP and 15" wheels.

We ran through the various settings in WOT throttle runs and few smooth accelleration runs. It is of compact design no where as large as a GPS unit and has different settings including one (MPG Setting) where the owner gained 3MPG on average.

The function buttons are small but only have to be fussed with while setting it up to the mods you have installed. This particular one was plugged directly into the OBDII port, but if a spliiter is available all the better.

Nice bang for the buck mod and excellent price IMO.
