Best snow boots?

I ran the dunlop graspic ds3(?) for 3 winters and I hated those tires. Lack of grip and expensive as hell. I had more grip on my old civic during winter with cheap tires. Any good suggestions for snowy canadian winters?

Best to look in the 'Tires and Brakes' section - lots of inputs on all types.

I'll take exceptions to that statement. I have used the Blizzack WR 50's since 2005 and found them exceptional. When I did the research then, the Blizzacks were better in snow/slush but the Hak's were slightly better on pure ice. Where I am there is less pure ice and more snow/slush hence my choice. Either one is a good chioce but consider the majority of the snow type where you live and then do the research at Tire Rack.

Ive used both brands. Bridgestone owns a nice chunk in Nokian so they get to use the technology and Nokian gets some advantages in production costs for a tire line in North America. I would still own either tire and they are both worth the money. There still are some differences in the tires but when going from point A to point B either tire will get you there. I do how ever favor the Nokian as it was their tech that got bridgestone where they are now with snow tires.

I wanted to add that I've owned both tires before and after Bridgestone bought into Nokian. Prior to that the quality of the bridgestone winter tires sucked. Really no different then running an all season tire. My mercedes had problems with traction. When my car was stuck in out driveway my wife's Jetta TDI with Nokians drove around like there was no snow or ice. During this same time period she also took the same car to out daughters horse riding lessons in the country on gravel roads. So the tires went through snow, ice, muddy ice, slush, etc... reminded me of a studded mud tire. Today we still run both brands and the blizzaks do a very good job. But the Nokians are still far above the rest.

Gislaved makes a wonderful snow tire too... Ive never used them but I do have different friends in Canada and US that love them.
