Looks like you guys had fun last year! I was thinking about coming up this year for this event but I have some questions about the costs. What does the costs you have listed include? Hotel? Track Fees? BBQ costs?
My second question is what if you are bringing two people (say my wife and I)? Is the total costs for two people just the one Double occupancy rate or is it two of the Double occupancy rates? I hope I am phrasing the question properly.
Just out of curiousity what it the weather like that time of year up there?
Thanks!

Hey Driving_Hamster:
Last year the weather was perfect in September for Wolfe Island and Shannonville - about 70 degrees.
If you download the registration form from MINImeet.ca you'll see that all the costs are listed This is a grass roots initiative - not a corporate enterprise! Prices are very reasonable.
The price is based on number of MINIs, not people, other than the single or double choice of your room at the hotel. You don't pay twice if there's two of you.
Any questions? Just write me: robert@MINImeet.ca .
It's gonna be MINIamazing - we'd love to have you with us.

The cost indicates US$295 for one night in HoJo. Does this include meals? Is this on the European plan? What about costs for the ferry crossing to Wolfe Island and cost of the Motorsport thing? Is the Motorsport track thing optional?
I believe you need to clarify on the costs of EACH event/item.

Hey MINIacs:
It's MINImeet Update Time - and it's time for you to download and fax us
the MINImeet Registration form from MINImeet.ca. Remember, we're limited to 60 MINIs only - and we will set a new record on the Wolfe Island
Ferry - Guaranteed! You don't want to miss the boat!
Although we've been quiet, we've been busy! Here's the news:
Kingston City Council is considering our request to shut down the street in
front of City Hall on September 12th for the Greatest MINI Show 'n Shine
ever! We'll certainly attract some attention from the locals!
We're working on a Friday night gathering at the Lone Star (next door to
the HoJos in Kingston) if you're thinking of arriving on September 10th.
Details will be provided in a future Update.
Some of us MINIacs will be at Shannonville this Sunday (June 6th) checking
out the Fabi track layout. It's one of Amit's Track Nights (which I told
you about on May 17th. If you want more info, write to amit@btqfuzz.com
for future summer dates). I can't wait to hit the straight-a-way. It's
part of the dragstrip, so you know it's long. I'll let you know how
fantastic that ride is.
If you've got MINI buddies, please share the MINImeet.ca url with them. The list is filling up, and it'd be great if you and some of your
MINI friends could join us in September.
I'll be back to you as things come together in the summer. Remember to
check out the MINImeet forums as we get closer to September. The convoys
will be organizing by then, and the Track Experience Day Rules and Helpful
Hints are already posted.
Until the next Update..

Hey MINIacs:
Great News! Even we were surprised at the number of MINI aftermarket suppliers that have jumped on board to help make MINImeet 2004 (http://MINImeet.ca) an Over The Top MINI Event!
MINI Swag is coming to us from Doug Whalen and his Shift Machine, Moss MINI, CooperFlags, Redline Goods, Max MotorSports, North American Motoring, MINI Mania and and a bunch of great MINI Retailers! All of the suppliers were impressed with our Centrefold in the NAM Calendar.
We're a "rubber stamp" away from Kingston's City Council closing the main street (across from City Hall) for our MINI Only Show 'N Shine. Remember to bring your polishing cloth and car wash kits. HoJo's is again making the car washing rotunda available to us before and after our Wolfe Island Rally/Scavenger Hunt.
In the last Update I mentioned Amit's Track Night at Shannonville. Well, we were running on the Fabi track that night, the same one we'll be using at MINImeet 2004. That thing is unbelievable, with a dragstrip-length straight-a-way. You will have a great time. No racing or passing - just enthusiastic driving. I think that beats MOTORing, anytime!
(If you want to join Amit and the gang at Shannonville this summer, you can contact him at amit@btqfuzz.com. Space is tight, but he'll let you know dates, and availability. After this weekend there's 6 more nights).
Remember, MINImeet 2004 is limited to only 60 MINIs, and the list is filling up. If you've got MINI buddies, please share the http://MINImeet.ca url with the, or forward this email to them. This is a great way for newbies to learn about our great MINI Culture!

You may not know the answer to this.... but do you know if Cooper Flags will be doing installs during the meet? I've been thinking about coming up for this and I have always wanted some quality bonnet stripes on my MINI.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
CooperFlags will not be available to do installs - there just isn't enough time. They are providing us with some of their products, discount certificates, etc. for our charity raffle table.
I hope you come up for the event. It'll be a great drive from your place. Get a couple of buddies together and Convoy To Kingston!
See you in September.

Hey MINIacs:
This is a Special MINImeet Update! Just Announced: All registrations received for MINImeet 2004 by August 10th will be entered in a draw for a $200 gift certificate from MINI Woodbridge. We will be announcing the winner the week after the draw, and the certificate will be immediately available. No waiting until September in Kingston.
If you've already registered, you're automatically in the draw. If you've yet to register, do so by August 10th and be part of this great MINImeet give-a-way. 200 bucks is 200 bucks! Download the registration form from http://MINImeet.ca .
I'm motoring to Wolfe Island this weekend for the annual Family Ball Tournament. (Our team actually won the Championship a few years' back - likely never to happen again!). We'll be putting together the last details of our Rally/Scavenger Hunt, and getting the Island psyched for our visit. My LY/B MCS will be all over the Island, giving lots of rides. They don't get many MINIs over there, and they love 'em!
The next step is up to you. Space is limited, register and get ready to Rock The Island (again!). Be sure to register by August 10th to be in the $200 draw. With limited numbers, you've got a good chance of winning.

MINImeet 2004 Report!
Well, it's done! What a great event - made all the better by the great help of SOMC Superstars Paul and Gord.
Picture this - 30 MINIs from 5 states and 2 provinces, all colours and tech mixtures. Over half the owners never drove on a track before. Many were women, who, by their own admission, drove like "soccer moms"!
Paul and Gord stepped up to the plate and had the crowd safety oriented, the MINIs tech inspected (Gord) and drivers track ready and comfortable (Paul).
These guys took on a terrific load, and along with Amit, Shel and Rick had everyone bombing down the Fabi straightaway and into the hard turn No. 1 like there was no tomorrow!
Thanks guys, for all your help.
As to the first day of MINImeet 2004: The Wolfe Island Adventure? Unbelievable! Perfect weather, two good lines of MINIs on the ferry, a challenging and tricky Rally/Scavenger hunt (cemetery, what cemetery?), wonderful variety of MINI swag on the charity raffle table, excellent barbeque, scary Kingston Haunted Walk, and a "Meet the MINIs Show 'n Shine" in the centre of downtown Kingston on a street closed to all but MINIs!
We angled the MINIs down the middle of the street, in a zipper fashion. The locals and Kingston tourists loved it - we had a great crowd, lots of chatter between the civilians and the MINIacs.
There are thousands of pictures - too many digital cameras! Joseph from Vermont set up a Tech Tent at Shannonville where he downloaded his images from a monster Canon digital to his computer. Nigel, a local Kingston MINIac, set up his video equipment to record our breaking out of the zipper line, and onto a MINI Parade through a part of the downtown area.
Photos and/or a slide show will soon appear on MINImeet.ca. I'll keep you posted. We've also started the MINImeet 2005 Discussion Forum on MINImeet.ca, so if you have any thoughts, ideas or suggestions, let me know.
We'll see what happens.
Until then....

MINIs Invited To The Not So Amazing Race!
Sept 28
Hey MINIacs:
We've been invited to participate in a Fundraising Rally/Scavenger Hunt in
the north end of Toronto on Oct. 17th. The "Not So Amazing Race" is in
support of Epilepsy York Region.
Here's the scoop:
Event: Fun Rally and Scavenger Hunt
Date: Sunday Oct. 17
Place: Loyal True Blue & Orange Home, 11181 Yonge St., Richmond Hill (2
blocks N. of Elgin Mills).
Time: 1 pm. for approx. 3 hours.
Cost: $30 per car, pay at the event. Teams need a name.
Details: You'll be given a start time when you register. Cars leave every
3 minutes, however, if there are a lot of vehicles they will shorten the
wait time to a minute or so. The rally takes approx. 2.5 hrs. to run.
All the MINIs will get in. They're hoping for 50 cars, or so. We'll put
them over the top. It's the second time they've done this, and they seem
to be ready! Epilepsy Ontario is helping with the event, and has a mind to
rolling it out next year to all their local chapters as a significant
fundraising opportunity.
The event is family oriented, so bring your kids, if you have 'em! The
rally is a combo rally/scavenger hunt. As it was described to me by Anita,
the organizer, it should be a lot of fun. Prizes for kids and adults.
We end up at a restaurant in York Region, where we can hang out, etc.
That's where the prizes will be awarded. However, if anyone decides to
leave early they will call all winners by phone.
If you have any questions, or want to register directly, the contacts are:
Anita Barnes (after 7 pm) 905-898-0664
or
Collin Barnes (days): cbarnes@organon.ca
This could be terrific - the work is being done by them, we're just along
for the ride! Bring your 30 bucks, your navigator and your sense of
humour!
You can also get on the list by joining the Not So Amazing Race thread on
the SOMC Meets forum at http://www.somc.on.ca.
I'll be there in Team MINI ROX...
