I would suggest getting the pulley, belt, plugs, cold air intake, and new ignition wires, then get a tune from a proper shop if you really want more power.

"plug and play" software is nice but it isn't the best thing to do. A proper tune means your car will be remapped to the best configuration for you car. Because it is different for every car, packages like this do work to some extent but you can get more power out of your car with an actual tune.

Okay good to know. Are there any brands that are recommended over others? Alta, M7, TMS etc.. I see a lot of people use Alta or M7. Any reason for this?

Helix, Craven Speed, M7, DDM, etc. etc. There are many. Go on sights like Waymotorworks.com to browse around for trusted MINI parts. Way has a great pulley upgrade package with all the parts you need for the upgrade.

We have pulley packages with everything you need:
http://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-pulley-package.html
it has the pulley, belt, plugs, and safety cable. Just everything you need.

As for tuning we have found the Shark Inj to be way too agressive on parts of the map, and not good for long term use. Feel free to call our shop during the week and we'll help point you in the right direction.

I've helped install a number of the Way Motor Works pulley packages for KC Club members on our shop days and all I can say is they work, you can't go wrong. He uses the Craven speed pulley and I really like it, it's easy to install and looks terrific too!

So here's a vote for Way's kit!
