Those are beautiful pictures! Long exposures are my favorite. I like how everything has a beautiful glow. BTW, how did you get through the gate to take a picture in front of my maid's quarters? LOL

You guys are way too nice....here's the story....boredom can do some wonderful things. I'd been wanting to take some night shots for a while but didn't know where....over the course of a few months, I started remembering spots where I thought it would make for a cool picture.. hence what you have above.
Camera: Canon S45 - all shots in Manual mode....varying exposure lengths...most being about 1.5-2 seconds. The parking garage shots are 1/2 second...aperture is around 2.8 for most. I of course used a tripod. I dislike using the flash at night...it's pointless in pics like these.
I live in Scottsdale but these are all over Phoenix Metro.
Sambusik: That's an OFFICE building if you can believe that on Scottsdale Rd just north of Mc Dowell.
Minizilla: Wheels are ADR M Classic 17x7.5
Spoonleg & Jerseygirl...if I'm ever in the area, we'll do a photoshoot for your car!

hafid, thanks for the info. Manual mode & available light are the ways to go, you have an excellent understanding how to use that camera. Flash would destroy the ambience of night shooting.
dandp, thanks for your comments. and btw i still love your sig pic...i remember the first time i saw that i thought "what great composition!" i've seen some of your work, very nice indeed.
I must say I had to be sneaky in a couple of these pics. There are some resorts out here that I would LOVE to shoot at but unless I get the OK from security, it's hard to setup and take the shot without security saying "can I help you?" The b&w pic above was taken at a resort, but that's all I had time for before thinking I had to leave.....the color version didn't work out as well, hence I dropped the color.
btw, for those who don't live here, the very first pic is the Phoenix Public Library.
