What grill is that? Very nice, not the aero, and one I'll consider getting if it's available.

wow, it' really cool to see all these responses...you are all so nice!

telemarc - there is zero processing in photoshop...they are completely "as is" - the only thing i did was frame them.

fms - it's the aero gril - spayed silver (on top) and underneath is the stock grill sprayed silver....all the grill bits and vents on the car are sprayed silver.

Which wheels are those? They look like the R90s, but I've seen some BBS wheels that look very similar. I'm pretty sure that I would buy aftermarket wheels in search of saving some weight, but those wheels look GREAT!

Doug - those are the ADR M Classic. However, ADR has stopped making these and I've called just about every place online that says they sell them only to find they don't have them anymore - heck, I even called ADR corporate and they're out. This is annoying frankly but they are beautiful wheels - they're actually a BMW 5 series wheel knock-off. They look a little more "classic" than the R90 IMO.

The MINI looks so lonely inside the parking garage. Needs zgokart next to it.
Hafid, are you using white balance correction for your nite photos? Incandescent lamps are pretty "warm" in color.

>>Those are beautiful pictures! Long exposures are my favorite. I like how everything has a beautiful glow. BTW, how did you get through the gate to take a picture in front of my maid's quarters? LOL

zgokart - on these i used very little white balance correction as i didn't think it was necessary when taking the pictures....there's tons of room for improvement on these...i need to even out the glow in parts when i reshoot - specifially with the lights on the car.

Nice job. You're one motivated photographer. Ever try "painting with light" technique? You could do it to give the body of the Mini a little fill light during long exposures with a hot light (not a strobe), and choose different bulbs depending on what the color temp of your film/CCD is... this would give it a little more volume in some of the shots where the headlights or backlighting overpower the available light (or lack thereof) on the car. It's fun too - on a long exposure, say 30 seconds to one minute, have a pal take a flashlight and wave it at the body of the car. Or just fill strobe it manually with a small, $20 strobe. Keep on shootin'!

fascinating idea! next time i will certainly do much longer exposures - about 15 seconds and drop the fstop to around 8 or so.....that way i can also have a friend sit in the car and lust quickly turn on the lights once and turn them back off so that they don't overexpose like they did in these

but i really like your strobe idea! very neat trick....do you have any examples of your work with this?

Hafid - sorry, wish I had some to share. I was a photojournalist for ten years and taught for three [studio technique, view camera, documentary classes]. I burned out just prior to the digital age. Still have a pile of Nikons plus a Pentax 67 that aren't worth much now. Was able to sell my darkroom though! I did a lot of "painting with light" on commercial jobs... especially with view camera as the exposure can get nice and LOOONG. When I changed careers I left my archives behind with a former student - had to let it all go. I just got a little digital camera and I'm enjoying shooting again without for fun.

Just had to post again -- I put some of the pics on my desktop at work. Everyone was peering over my laptop: "Is that the one you're getting?" "Wow, what are those cool lights on the front?"

I love it!

Wanted to let you know you're helping to spread the MINI fever!
