On the Cooper I had I got around 32 mpg but the S seems stuck on 19 :???:. What kind of numbers are others getting? I did a search and couldn't find anything on MPGs so I hope this hasn't already been discussed.

I doubt this is much good for you to compare to 2minis, but my CVT averages 29mpg in mixed city/highway driving. I don't get many trips of either one type of driving or the other, so that's the best average I have.

I'd be curious to see what other CVT drivers get?

It sounds like your MINI may have a a false reading or a fuel leak if it is still running well. Gas mileage changes usually are a good indicator of a problem. You have not changed wheels have you?

It boggles my mind that anyone with an MCS is getting 30 mpg. The
last couple of tanks with mostly city driving in my MCS were 18.2 and 18.3.
The current tank has soared to 19.4 mpg after 1,800 miles. Maybe this will
improve over time, but right now it doesn't come close to what Mini said it
would be.

Yeah. I agree. I'm a little disappointed. I may even try slowing it down a little looking at some of these numbers. I did change wheels and tires...went to a
16lb. rim and an air filled Yokohama AVES 100 tire. I'm hoping to see the number rise on my S (~19mpg) with this next tankful.

I averaged 27.6 mpg with an average speed of 33 mph on this last tank of gas (which lasted me a whole TWO days!). I already have put 800 miles on my MCS in 7 days...

I monitored a 20 minute trip I took in "suburban"-type travel this evening. I was averaging 33 mpg!!!

I must say I'm ThRILLED by the mileage so far. I certainly didn't buy this car for the mileage and yet the mileage is pretty good. Better performance than my 94 & 95 Mustangs and 10 mpg MORE! Yippee!

I'm on my 5th tank of gas in only 7 days - my MINI had better get good mileage!!!

My MCS is getting 30.9 mpg combined. I was curious what it would get on a level road at 70mph , the computer read 36.5 mpg after a 60 mile trip. Even driving it hard in the mtns, it returned 26.5 mpg. This was all with less than 2000 miles on the odometer.

My MCS is averaging about 28 MPG in mixed driving. My wife's 323i gets 24, and my E320 averages about 23 to 25. Even at 28 MPG, I am a little disappointed for such a small car, but I really love it! I just turned 2500 miles, a few annoying rattles and the infamous "cold start" problem (but it always starts on the second turn of the key), but other than that so far so good.

My MCS milage is in the 18-20 MPG range no matter how nice or hard I drive the car. I am hoping that the 3.1 software upgrade will improve the MPG. Has anyone else had the software upgrade which helps with cold starts noticed a change in MPG ?

Have you reset the computer since you bought it? You know, hold down the button that changes the disply for about 5 seconds. It resets the computer for that item (MPG and Speed)

I was driving easy as I had already put on about 150 miles of joy riding earlier in the day. So I believe I was shifting by 3500 RPMs purposely to see what kind of mileage I could get. So far on my current tank I'm only averaging 24-25 mpg but my average speed has been only 27mph.

The MINI may be a small car but it is far from the lightest car out there. MINI says 24/33 so I don't know how you can be disappointed with 28 mpg. Besides, find another car that is so much fun to drive and lists a 0-60 at under 7 seconds with anywhere near MINIs mileage!
