Just had a Viper installed in my '04 Cooper S. Works fantastically and a very clean installation - cost ~$239 installed. If anyone on Long Island wants to get "alarmed" I strongly recommend the one I used. J & R Alarms at 260 E. Jericho Turnpike in Huntington

Hmm, the dealer wants to charge 600 bucks for an alarm to be put in, or 800 for a lowjack system. I think I'll go with the 3rd party, 239 sounds like a sweet price.

Does the alarm activate w/ both the MINI's remote and key? Does it have an (optional) audible signal when armed and disarmed, along w/ lights flashing? Does it have a blinking LED? Does it have a hidden deactivation switch? If so, sounds great! Mine does all of the above, and cost $299 installed. It would be great to know of another even less expensive option.

I was wondering if the viper alarm has an impact sensor included in it.

The Viper has an impact sensor, audible indication of locking (programmable), a blinking LED, flashing lights, panic alarm, etc. It uses a separate "clocker" but the Viper clicker also opens/closes the doors so all that you use the MINI key for is the ignition.

Oops, forgot to add that it also has an automatic ignition shutoff so that the car cannot be started without disarming the Viper. By the way, I do not work for Viper - just wanted to protect my baby.

thanks for the info. Does the viper have a model number? Oh, and does it have the inside sensor that listens for the windows breaking and a motion detector? Is the siren loud?

Thanks again..
