So, how many legal violations does everything think they've tallied up so far in their MINIs? I've hit 100+ about 3 times now, and ran around 90 many more... along with numerous burnouts and about a dozen double-yellow passes... all in all, with speeding violations added in, I'd say a good 300 for me since I got mine on 9/20/2002. WOoooo! Hope no cops read this site....

Driving faster = less time spent on road

Less time spent on road = smaller chance of being in an accident.

It's the slow moving target that gets tagged!

(I don't pass on double yellow though... Gotta draw the LINE somewhere! )

I save double yellow line passes for idiot popcorn heads doing 20 in a 45 mph zone...in other words, unless the driver in front of me is doing WAY under the limit, I wouldn't even think of it.

As for speeding, ya sure you betcha ya.

Did have fun busting out a thick patch of rubber in an electronics superstore parking lot the other night though. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

in my opinion, if you own an "S", and aren't driving it like Sprog, Davbret, or myself, you've waisted about 3 grand on the upgrade. I can hardly help pealing out in 1st and 2nd everytime I hit a red light. I used to hate red lights, now I love em!

I tend to drive too fast sometimes, but I think that may be due to the fact that every other car I have owned was ALOT slower than my Mini.....

Don't want to sound like anyone's Mom either but.................................
As an attorney, I've represented too many people hurt in traffic accidents and street racing incidents. I grew up near Van Nuys Blvd. and Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles, two of the most (in)famous street racing locations anywhere and could tell one horrible story after another. Be safe. There's really nothing funny or cute about this topic.

>>I like it. You have your picture on your post and are registered on this site and making a public admission to numerous violations of the law. It's too funny.

Absolutely!

Althought I would add that TminiS's post moves from that to rather close to offensive.

But, again I was young once... Long ago.

Besides being young once, I'd like to make it to be old. Drive safe! We are all out on those roads with you.

Legal Violations? What, is that some sort of badge of honor? Kind of like a shop-lifting spree? Infantile indeed.

How many violations have you been SITED for? That's a more pointed question. I have one: sporting a Union Jack instead of a front license plate (California requires TWO plates, otherwise the red-light cameras can't identify drivers.) A meter maid stopped to gawk at my Mini, then wrote me up for the missing plate. Damn!

My girlfriend says the cuteness factor has kept the cops at bay - maybe. But LOSERS like Sprog will put an end to that if they keep it up.

Oh, I only double-yellow pass if someone is going REALLY slow, too, and only on the road on the way to school/work, since I know there aren't any cops, and light traffic. I wouldn't do anything deliberately to endanger myself or others. As for the racing my dad part, we raced in a big gap in traffic, and slowed way down by the time we got to the next batch of cars. But peeling out, I'll do that anywhere, its harmless, and fun! So pbbbbbbbbbbbbbth!

Honestly, what you are talking about is NOT harmless. Please, find a race track. Don't do this on the streets. Really.

Oh, and by the way, I've never been cited for ANYTHING except for the small accident I've mentioned in a previous post. Almost everyone I know says I'm the safest driver they know. There's fast driving, but you're either in control or not. And yes, I know, mistakes can happen. But what is life if you can't enjoy it?

Twisty road? Motoring? Naw, I'll think I'll have some fun and let it scream a little!! After all, that's why I bought the car.

You are right Sprog. We have all done stuff like that. I used to drink and drive at one time in my life, I still speed on a regular basis but I don't pass on a double yellow because someone is going too slow(or are they doing the speed limit??). Remember on a 2 lane, if you pass on the double yellow, that old fool backing out of the driveway, without looking your way because he knows it is a double yellow, may just be me. Ouch. Seen it happen too many times.

Yes, but it's the taking someone out with you that's the problem...

I've pretty much avoided this subject.. due to the fact that it's really admiting to bad driving habits... Yes, we all have them, and some of us may have picked up some more when we drove our MINI home, but I've seen too many idiots on the road to do anything risky...

I keep my DSC on (MOST of the time) and I'm careful with the clutch - I'm 30 yrs old, always drove stick and NEVER wore out a clutch. And I don't plan on it.

I hate young kids in cars that peal out everywhere...it really makes you look desperate for attention.

that teenager he speaks of is me. personally i sure would love to hit the highways, crank it up to about a 100 and just cruise around....but i know the risks. my parents told me straight up if i get a speeding ticket i get my car taken up for 3 months. now being young i remember how much life sucked without a car so i don't want to go back to that. also i have peeled out ONCE b/c my friend was showing me how to do it....but after that i have not done it...b/c if the tires need to replaced i have to pay for them, and it already sucks enough paying for gas, insurance, and food everyday. my parents expect me to work hard for what i want, and respect the things i earn. i saved up and waited long enough for this car....i don't want to do something that would get it taken away from me. maybe you should rethink your driving habbits.......you unsafe driving is not only putting yourself at risk....but other people.....what may start out as a joy ride, could end in a accident.
