To buy or not to buy?

So, i just got back from looking at an 03 MCS. Chili red, white roof, sunroof, HK stereo, leather seats, 6 sped manual box, multi-function wheel, it seemed immaculate. The paint was great, shifted smooth, sounded stellar, the whole 9 yards. The car had 2 discernible quasi-issues: one was a generic internal combustion engine click when the engine was running, and the other was an unrelated noise that id attribute to possibly something hitting a wheel/a noise related to the wheels rotation. None of these issues (to my knowledge) are deal killers.

And the bump in the road: it has 124,000 miles.

Unless you look at the odometer you'd never guess that it has so many on the clock, but they are there. I plan on using it for an 80-mile round trip commute to school, so ill be adding more too. The seller wants 8,000$ for it. Does this sound like a worthwhile investment to get me through college/enjoy my weekends motoring?

I would say no, others might say yes. Given the amount of miles, the year and issues described you shouldn't be paying 8k for it. If it was around 6,500 I'd think about it. You can find newer models with less miles and no known issues for around 8-10k, just something to think about.

I should mention, when i describe the 2 issues, I'm REALLY scrutinizing. The clicking was faint and not audible with the hood closed, and the wheel noise was only present driving along a narrow fenced in road

hmm..I guess the miles would be the only thing to turn away potential buyers. Yes, these cars will go for a long time, but with substantial maintenance. At 100k+ miles it seems all the sensors eventually go, other electrical issues arise etc.,. and since there is no warranty it will cost some money for sure, as i'm currently experiencing with mine at 114k miles.

The problem with both of those is that they are nowhere near me.
