 THE ULTIMATE CLASSIC MINI GROUP BUY!!!
I am looking for at least 5 SERIOUS MINI BUYERS to get in on an AWESOME group buy offer from Julie Saxa at Classic MINI in Mentor Ohio that will save you HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OFF YOUR NEW MINI AND SHIPPING!!! Then consider the Chase financing rate of 3.64% for up to 60 months for those with a credit rating of 700 points or more and you can't beat this deal!

Even if you're not from California you can get in on this deal if your MINI is delivered along the route to it’s final destination in Southern California. Please let me or Julie know if you're interested in going the Classic route to save money on your new custom-built MINI with no wait! You can post to the this thread, send me a Personal Message, or email me. To put down your deposit and order your MINI, or for more sales info and to have your dealership questions answered, contact Julie directly at her phone or email listed above. She is super duper friendly and helpful and sooo many NAM members rave about her and their experiences with Classic MINI. 7 Complete strangers got together for a group buy in Northern California last November on NAM. COME ON- WE CAN DO IT!!! Pass it on!

Cheers!

This is going to the LA area, right? That means the cars would be passing through Vegas on I15. Hmmmm...I might know someone who is interested if a drop off in Vegas is possible.

Yeah- you've got the idea- anywhere along the way the truck can deliver lovely new MINIs! Shipping to a destination closer to Ohio than California (which is about anywhere  ) might even be cheaper. I am waiting on a detailed price break down per number of cars from Fred at Concours. They're based in Las Vegas. It looks like we may have 2-3 potentials already! Keep em coming!!! Yeah!

We need 6 buyers minimum to each get $500 off MSRP on a built-to-order MINI, but that is not the limit. More can purchase and still take advantage of the discount, even if you're not shipping it closed transport through Concours. We're looking for people that will order in the first two weeks of March. The truck can hold up to 8 MINIs at once. Fred from Concours is going to get me a detailed quote on pricing based on the number of cars shipped on one truck. I will share that info when I get it. Thanks everyone!

Cheers,
Tracy

For any Southern California, S.F. Bay Area, or Sacramento Valley buyers, you can't beat this deal.

Our California dealers are still charging $2,500+ over MSRP for a MCS and $900 or more for a MC. Why would you want to pay over sticker when you can get in on this deal? Remember, you pay sales tax on that dealer profit ...and VLF in CA every year you register the car!

I've purchased three MINIs for Julie at Classic and would get a fourth under the terms of this deal if I had room in my garage. Having invented the "Classic MINI Buyer Group" concept last November, I can tell you that it works! Classic MINI and Concours Transportation are a winning combination.

I encouraged Tracy to put this buy together, and I hope she fills the truck. Remember, "the more the cheaper"

If anyone needs any additional information about buying from Classic, transporting with Concours, or about registering an out-of-state MINI in CA, feel free to PM or email me as well carolla@scu.edu

Thanks, Charlie! You've been a great help with info about the wonderful experiences you've had buying from Classic and shipping all three of your MINIs home to Northern California.

SHIPPING UPDATE...
I have more info on shipping cost for those of you interested in this great group buy opportunity. It's wintertime folks, and even here in Southern California it's been pretty wet and icky out. That's why shipping your brand new built-to-spec, no-wait $500 UNDER MSRP MINI Cooper or Cooper S from Julie at Classic MINI all the way in Ohio on a covered, secure transport from Concours is a smart idea. Sure you could save some dough by shipping it the cheap way on an open truck with ramps and let it sit out in the freezing elements and get wind-beaten on it's journey across the country, but my guess is that you care more for your new MINI.

Fred Koller from Concours has given me a more specific price breakdown based on the number of cars and delivery point. Up to 8 MINIs can fit on one truck-load, so let's load 'er up! The following cost breakdown makes the assumption that all cars are delivered to the S.F. Bay area. That means, if you're in Vegas, your shipping cost will be slightly less because your MINI doesn't have to travel as far, and so on. If you require a more specific quote based on your delivery point, please contact fredkoller@concourstransport.com . Be sure to mention this group buy. He is very familiar with Classic MINI as he has been trusted and proven his services to transport a lot of MINIs to their new homes all over the country.

1 car = $1400
2 cars = $1300
3 cars = $1200
4 cars = $1000
5 cars = $950
6 cars = $900
7 cars= $885
8 cars= $875
A $50 gratuity is considered appropriate for the driver, especially if you get a boxed Aero kit shipped at no addiitonal charge!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask myself, Julie, or Fred, whomever you feel can help answer your questions best. I think this is an awesome deal and a great opportunity to get the exact MINI you want in very little time without paying a fortune to cut in line. The group buy is for orders placed in the first half of March that will be shipped together on the same Concours truck, but don't wait too long or your space may get taken.

Thanks,
Tracy

Got your PM, Shin and I emailed you back. You too Shelly (sent you a PM back). It looks like it may turn out to be a race of which 7-8 people order their MINI first to get on the group buy transport and save BIG on covered tranport of their new MINI. Tracy

The majority of questions I have received about this group buy concern how CA residents transfer their out-of-state vehicle to CA. Special thanks to Chief_Charlie for putting this VERY HELPFUL info together that explains everything you will need to do:

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Registering a MINI that has been purchased out of state in California is a straightforward process. There are only a couple of minor differences from buying a car from a CA dealer, and they include having to handle the DMV transactions in person rather than having the dealer do it for you (which they generally charge you for as a "documentation fee" ) In addition, you have to take the car to be tested at a Smog station, and have the vehicle "verified" by a police officer or a DMV employee to be sure the documentation matches the vehicle and that it is
CA smog-legal.

The requirements are laid out at the CA's DMV website, here:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/vr/osreg.htm#BM2561 including what forms you will need---which you can download from their website (except the verification form)

Essentially the steps include:

What paperwork you need:

-Purchase Agreement which DMV will use to establish value for CA registration fee and tax purposes.
-Statement of Origin from BMW or a Vehicle Title issued by the State where you bought the car. This establishes your legal right to possession of the car. This should be FedEx'd to you from the dealer after purchase.
-Proof of insurance coverage from your insurance agency/agent.
-Vehicle Verification performed by a Police Officer or DMV. The forms are not available online, and must be obtained at DMV or AAA. The owner cannot complete this form. It has to be done by the officer or DMV
-Smog Certificate (see below for requirements)
-Application for Title and Registration (DMV Reg Form 343, available online from DMV)

What you have to do:

-Get a Smog Certificate. Check:
http://smogcheck.ca.gov/ZIPAREA/ziplookup.aspx by your ZIP Code to see whether you live in an area that requires a Basic or Enhanced Smog test. The MINI will pass as it is certified in all 50 states (as is the JCW Kit) You just have to have a Certificate to register an out-of-state car in CA
-Have the Vehicle Verified Check with your local Police Department to see if they provide this service or check with the local office of the Highway Patrol. Otherwise, you will have to have this done at the DMV Field Office, and it usually requires an appointment. You'll need all your documentation AND the vehicle for this, and it generally can be done in less than 1/2 an hour.
-Make an Appointment at DMV. Once you have your Smog Certificate, your verification, and all the paperwork mentioned above, you're ready to register the car at DMV. Bring your checkbook. They don't take credit cards at most offices. You can make an appointment online at DMV. Look here for how to make an appointment:
https://eg.dmv.ca.gov/foAppt/Welcome.jsp

What it's going to cost:

-Registration: Approximately $40. You may pay about $17 more if you are changing the Title or adding registered owners
-Use Tax which is equal to the sales tax you would pay in the CA city in which the car will be registered. You can use this link to determine what what percentage of the purchase price the tax will be:
http://www.boe.ca.gov/sutax/pam71.htm
-Vehicle License Fee (VLF). VLF is equal to 2% of 100% of the value (purchase price) of the vehicle when first registered in CA, less 66 2/3% . For example, VLF for the 1st year of registration for a $23,000 MINI would be $23,000 x 1 x .02 = $460 less 66 2/3% or $460 - $306 = $154 . (Next year when you register the car it would be $23,000 x .9 x .02 less 66 2/3% or $414 - 276 = $138) and so on.

What many MINI buyers don't realize is that they pay sales tax on the $2,500 or $3,000 over the MSRP that some CA dealers are charging. In addition, they pay VLF on that amount when they first register the car and every year thereafter. This amounts to at least $250 in extral fees when initially registering a car in CA.

Just as an FYI..

I got my MCS with Charlie back at the beginning of this month (Thanks Charlie, Love it!!) and now smogs in california are pretty expensive ($50-$90 dollars). If you are in the bay area around sunnyvale, I found this test-only station that charges $58.00 incl cert and if you go on thier website, they have a $10.00 off coupon. So it was only $48.00 to smog my mini and right down the street is the lawrence expressway DMV office. Pretty convenient.

Now the wait! Sounds like a great deal. I paid MSRP for mine out of state (I am in CA) and drove it back, but would have gone this route if I had the opportunity. I waited 5 months for MCS to arrive. They did a 2003-2004 model change and I decided to wait for the 2004 and am glad I did. 8,500 troublefree miles so far. Trust me, you will become obsessed thinking about your new Mini, tracking it on the web, phoning your MA, logging into NAM, MINI2, BRIDGER, etc.. I would suggest bringing a video/still camera to actually document your new Mini being unloaded from the transporter. The wait is definitely worth it. I wish you all the best and please post some photos in April/May! If any of you ordered a PW/B MCS like I did, here is a photo to wet your appetite.....

Thank you both for the congrats and welcome! I am already in way too deep and loving every minute of it. My husband and friends think I have gone over the deep end but I can't help it. The excitment about these wonderful machines is incredible and the people I have spoken to or read about all seem to be the same way Laura

Thanks to Tracy and Julie my wife and I are now into this thing hip deep like the other seven of you. Can't wait... because of the time difference in Ohio vs here on the Peninsula, I asked Julie to call us anytime this a.m. So the phone rang at 0615! She put us in and it was confirmed this evening. Now we wait. Does someone have some champagne (preferably in the India Blue bottle with white stripes, white cork)?

There will most definetly be champagane my friend! I too am in this group and can't wait to see something happen! Mini site says "on order" but I'm ready to move to "in production"! Starting the task of cleaning out my garage today. . . will be ongoing project to keep me occupied while I wait for my mini! Still working on a name and will decide on license plates next week.
