well as if its no suprise mini will start craking down on us modders very soon, since i work at MCM here in rochester i had a talk with a rep and he had told me that very soon mini is going to pute very strong restraints on what we mod and how it affects are waranty, for ex, he told me if we lower are cars with springs this will void all suspention and breaks as well as anything that directley connects with any part of the suspention. Air induction kits and as we already know pully and cams and other things of that sort will void are engine and higer volt reg's and such will void anything electrical, but headers and exaust are ok, again just the messenger but what suck is that MCM has helped alot of us out with mods on are cars that would tipically void are warantys but once this goes into effect they will have to stop.

Can you be more specific as to who at MINIUSA told you about these upcoming warranty policy enforcements?

Well, you just need to be ready to pay if you wanna play, i guess.

Or, be ready to dispute which could cause your car to be in the
shop for days even weeks until you sort out the paperwork.

It's not worth it to me. I just pay to fix something if the dealer
is not willing to do it under warranty.

Even if they do crack down, most dealership sells performance parts that they will put on and not void the warranty if serviced at their shop. My dealership has a full line of UUC products as well as a few other companies and they will install the parts for you.

Maybe the crack down is in anticipation for the launch of more JCW products. JCW can't compete on price, so if BMW cracks down on the warranty issue it will start to level the playing field for their products. A full crackdown won't hold up to the Magnuson-Moss Act, so they have to be careful.

Intakes void warranty? Funny since they selll them.
It would be illegal to sell them and honor the warranty while
voiding it for others. That is what is called Anti-Trust inthe court system.
Anyone could file an Anti-Trust lawsuit against MINI if they did this to them.
It could be converted into class action suit in federal counrt if it happened to everyone. Every intake company could file suit.
So I doubt this will happen.

Ladies and Gentlement, now may be time to put the smack down on MINI and BMW USA. Let's invoke the Magnuson Moss Act, Let's put our own ads out there, Let's Put D Smack Down, Let's Litigate!!!

In all seriousness, if BMW NA goes this direction, we must stick together and sign petitions, get lawyers involved, and set things straight!

As we have all seen different dealerships treat mod'd MINIs in different ways. Some are very strict, while others are installing aftermarket mods on customer cars.

and let us not forget that the people we talk to at the dealerships are -- by their nature -- smooth-talking BS artists who love to hear themselves talk.

The dealer I go to will WARRANTY all mods (inclusive of the engine and components therein) if they install the mod.

I'm going to them to get the pulley installed. I may pay a premium -

labor - 97.90 US @ 4 hours.

But, for the peace of mind it's worth it.

The rest I plan on installing myself. Exhaust, sway bars, ecu flash etc...

Why not get the JCW kit if anyway you are willing to pay high dealer labor rates?
