I know it's not kosher to have a thread about another thread, but this case deserves an exception.

Trippy started a thread a while back saying that he was going to lemon law his car because of the slush and snow built up in the wheel wells. (Check it out here.) Obvioulsy, this was a joke.

Lo and behold, MINI Division is offering him help with his "problem" complete with reference number:

I'm with MINI USA. If you need help we're happy to work with you and your dealer. You can reach us at 866 ASK.MINI and please mention Reference # 200405100135 so that we can help you more efficiently.
This is totally unbelievable. I'm just flabergasted. How are they going to fix the yo-yo/frozen shifter/windshield/5 speed tranny seal/anything else if they can't even tell a joke from a real issue?

From wat i've read in the past, that reference number is also a joke.
When the person calls MINI, they have no idea what they're talking
about. this is just hearsay, but it sounds like that's what's going on.

While it's a mix between utter disgust and flailing humor, MINIDivision has certainly demonstrated that MINI needs its' hand held in restructuring its' PR and ASKMINI departments. For now, we can only hope that the Reference numbers don't get any longer!

"#200405100135", woah!

Here's a little more tactful approach along the same lines

To MINI Division:

I'm your CUSTOMER. You need help we're happy to work with MINIUSA and your dealers. You can reach us at NORTH AMERICAN MOTORING and please mention Reference # 1 so that we can help you more efficiently.

I think the owner of this site, I believe it is Mark F. , should call MINI USA to have them verify they are MINIDIVISION. If it is not verified! Boot them off the site. They are posting quite a bit. I would certainly hope they are for real??

I've said it before, but here it is again.

MINIDivision is real. All posts have come from the BMWNA server in New Jersey. Mark met some of the people at MINIUSA/MINI Division last month at BMW/MINI headquarters in New Jersey.

As Ryephile said though, MINIDivision still needs some hand holding to become more effective (that assumes effectiveness in the first place, probably a poor assumption).

Thanks for saying it again! It is good to know they are real. With my limited experience with the MINI 800#, I really am not surprised by any of their posts!

Not true from my experience. I actually had an issue that MINIdivision left a reference number for. I called MINIUSA and gave them the reference number and they knew exactly the problem I was referring to. The joke part is there is absolutely nothing that MINIUSA can or could do about the problem. They gave me no useful information whatsoever. They just told me to try and work it out with my dealer and to keep bringing my MINI there when the problem arose even though my dealer wasn't doing anything about it.

Actually if you read through that thread, you'll notice that a number of our own beloved NAM members didn't get it was a joke either!

BMW's idea of "customer service" is a joke.

They are basically there to provide a buffer between the dealer network and pesky customers. Their objective is to mollify a PO'd customer by acting concerned and giving the illusion of being helpful without really doing anything.

BMW seems to place a higher value on maintaining good relations with its dealers than with its customers.

This careless attitude about customer satisfaction will eventually lead to BMW's demise. Of course, Bangle's hideous designs aren't helping any.

Now i got it, Trippy was conducting a double blind field-test, of the Emergency MINIUSA broadcast system (EMBS), and it was apparently successful.

I'll admit that I am usually one of Mini division's biggest detractors, but in this case I think they've got one over on the peple involved in these two threads. The person who sent that in from Mini Division was obviously going along with Trippy's prank, having a laugh, and now look! Well done Mini Division. In reading both of these threads from beginning to end it has almost been like watching a double or triple cross movie like The Sting.

Can this thread morph into a double-cross movies thread?

I remember one that starts with card-sharks and gets cross/cross/cross all the way through.

_The game_, no that's not right. It was GREAT.

I also just watched another one recently. (Netflix is great BTW)
Damn, if it weren't for this Altzheimers, I'd be more help.
Guys in a bar, one gets shot, the "good-guy" runs out and then
they all get up and make fun of him.

Please make your recommendations for double-cross films here.

You wouldn't be referring to "House of Games", would you? It's more of a con-man movie, but along the same lines.

I'd disagree. I think the MINIDivision drone fell for it all the way.

_House of games_ That's it. It's on my Netflix list now.

I pass the "You are the man" to you now. Pass it on the the
next participant worthy of the honor.

Start off your day with:
"Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels"

Then watch:
"******"

"Bridge on the River Kwai" doesn't really fit the mold but I'd throw it in there just coz we got one over on them in the end.

Ken
ps Greatbar, I still reckon that the Mini Division person knew what they were doing. Some of them have to be humans with a sense of humour. Not all of them mind you.
