depends what you want out of your exhaust.
i'll be going with full megan exhaust in the spring because of cost and potential power gain (with supporting mods)

I want something with a nice sound, but not too annoying with drones and such. I hear the magma flow is rediculously loud. When a 4 cyl gets too loud, it just sounds flat out annoying. I will also be purchasing the ddm intake.

Megan is a bit loud, but all and all it's a nice catback for the price.

is it? I've heard some stand still sound clips but nothing WOT. i figure at the price i can always use the test pipe that comes with the header to add in a resonator if i don't like the noise

I've been asking this question for a while too - need to replace my rusting OEM muffler.

I'm leaning towards Borla - from various threads I've run across here, it sounds like people say it's a little louder than stock and quieter than the Megan. The lifetime warranty is great and it's supposed to have a very nice tone. I've heard it on a few youtube videos and it does sound nice. I'd still like to hear it in person though.

I vaguely remember running across a thread or two with people who got the Megan but it was too loud for their taste and they took it out.

Here's a good reference thread for R50 exhaust:

I am loving my Borla, it has a nice subtle rumble at idle and a deep growl at WOT, but it is not LOUD or tinny, and no drone at highway cruising speed. I also have an aFe intake, together they sound great when I cross 4000RPM. The Borla is pretty pricey, but if it's in your budget I'd check it out.

For those looking to replace your stock/rusting muffler, the Milltek for R50s is $419.95 over at outmotoring.com right now until Monday I think. Picked one up and will finally be replacing my rusty muffler...

I like my Miltek, but not sure where one can get one nowadays for the R50.

That's about $100 - $150 less than I paid almost 8 years ago, and
I had to wait for them to be shipped from England to Stratmosphere and then to me.
No one kept the R50 ones in stock back then, and for a few years after then, I don't
remember seeing anyone selling them.

Nice to see they're available and affordable. The quality is certainly there.
Mine is holding up very well even after almost 8 years on the MINI.

Good to hear yours is holding up well. Can't believe the price I paid and can't wait to install it!
