The letters " E P " under the mileage ?

Has anyone ever seen this on their Mini S or do you know what it means.

The letters " E P " are now under the mileage and service engine soon light is now on.

How do I clear this code ???

Thanks, MiniKar

For those interested, this resulted from installing a defective Sprint Booster. The EP appeared under the mileage readout, the Service engine soon light came on, and overall many error codes poped up.

I used the OBD code reader and to reset the service mileage, and to clear the codes and turn off the Service engine light. All is back to normal now.

I am getting a new Sprint Booster and will try the install once again; If the second unit is defective I won't be trying a third time !

If you take a look above, I had just installed a Sprint Booster that was defective and the result was the EP, various codes, and the Service Engine light. Its all back to normal now.

I contacted Mini Mania about the codes and the EP and they said " I guess you got a defective unit " Hum . . . . . . . ? ? ?

Do you by any chance have a MCSa? On my former R50 CVT, I remember seeing "EP" & IIRC it's related to the transmission

Since the ep is only used on the cvt to my knowledge, the explanation that a defective sprint booster turned it on, and the fact removing it fixed it seems to make sense.
It is sometimes interesting how seeming unrelated things (the unused ep and a sprintbooster) can interact....guess with the electronic busses used for communications, a stray siginal can do lots of things...
The ep on a CVT is a bad thing....
on an S it certainly is a curiosity....

To clear the code EP, I used a code reader to see all the error codes which we're related to the transmission. After clearing all the error codes twice and starting the car twice, the error EP and Service Engine light went away .................................

So by just disconnecting the Sprint Booster that did not clear up anything .

If you have certain build dates of '02 and '03 models, there can be a failure in the airbag deploying system that can trigger the airbag warning light. The warranty was extended for this problem to 10 years and a certain mileage. You might want to have this checked out at the dealer; they replaced lots of things and took care of this for me for free. Hurry, the warranty time is running out.

No- follow the link above and the follow the "minicooperproblems" link. It's not a goodwill sort of thing, it's a warranty issue. If you fall under the build date and you have that specific problem, theyhave to fix it.
