R50/53 Why is it Pepper White
My wife asked me why MINI chose the name of their creamy white to be called Pepper White. Being a guy I had to answer and made up a story that the Brits grow a special albino pepper used only in stews that isn't pure white but that creamy color of white and thats where the name came from.
Sounded good at the time but now I am wondering if anyone knows the logic behind the name.

I don't know, but from experience I CAN tell you that Euro-spec and Mexican MINIs come in four trim levels, "Salt" "Pepper" "Chili" and "Hot Chili".
My first MINI was a "Hot Chili", i.e. a loaded MCS.

Why is it pepper white?
Because it matches chili red.
This week as we drove around spotting MINIs my family could not come up with the name of the white MINIs they saw until I told them. They were dumbfounded. We spotted four PW MC!!!! individually on the road.

Regards to the Pepper White name It's because of all the 100 Percent Hot MINI Babes who drive them. Hot and fiery all of them.

NOBODY would name an auto color "white" anymore.
So... the question is to either use a word that means
"white", or qualify the word "white".
So, having chosen to qualify the color name, marketers
will look to match the attitude to the product.
"Pepper White" does just that.
Can you think of another good choice? "Artic White"?
"Major White"? "Dirty White"? "Brash White"?
God speed.

MINI's pepper white (cream) has traditionally been called Old English White (OEW) by most other British manufacturers (BMC, British Leyland, MG Rover). Methinks the name change is to reflect more of a marketing shift (new MINI, new color) than anything to do with either spices or bovine glandualar secretions. Remember the Bard's words, "A rose by any other name, would smell as sweet."

If you dig around on MINI2 you'll find the original names for all the colours.... A lot of them are pretty cool 70s musclecar colour type names.... Pepper White was supposed to be "Nougat"

Since red is named Chili red (as the Chili trimmed MINI in Europe and Mexico), they probably took pepper white (as is the Pepper trimmed MINI also). Now they are missing the "Salt" color. Should it be silver salt?
I´ve always considered it funny that they called a MINI trim "salt". In Mexico something that is "salted" is supposed to by of bad luck

LMAOLMAO @ "major" white... that was a giggle... ("Dude, that is MAJOR White!" ROFL).
Hope my DS/B MCS comes with a little "pepper on it",

I will have to tell Marianne this one. Thanks
I assumed it was from white pepper.
It is an odd color that seems to change in different light. Sometimes it looks more creamy than others, especially if you have snow in the background. Someone once referred to it as vanilla cream. I love it with the red interior (as you can see in the sig pic). One of the MAs at my dealer kept calling it "The Jelly Doughnut".
