R50/53 How much does the dealer charge to install the toggles and m
Not the driving lights (the accessory lights mounted to the grill) but the front fog lights mounted behind the bottom bumper.
The six toggles are in the middle of the center console. All MINI's have at least four, some had five with the addition of the front fogs. Now you can finally get the sixth position filled with the addition of the rear fog lights.

I have been out of the loop for a while, I see that Mini has released the 6 toggle switch unit. My question is this just a switch that can operate anyting ( PIAA lights)? secondly do the foglights on the Mini shut off when the highbeams are turned on-my thinking is if there is enough juice in the lines to operate the driving lights off the fog light circut I could use it to power the PIAA's and fogs.

The switch is tied to the existing plug and wiring harness in the car already. The rear fogs and wiring are actually in the car from the factory, they just didnt' supply the toggle to turn them on and off. If you want to use the switch for another use such as driving lights you would need to redo the harness and/or plug. And yes, the fogs do turn off when the high beams are turned on. Most states (probably all) have a law restricting the numer of lights that can be on at a given time. Some states even require you to cover any extra lights (i.e. driving lights) while on the road.

The rear fogs are now a factory option in the US ($100). They weren't when I first ordered in early January and I had arranged for the dealer to do it after the car gets here. Before my MINI entered production however, I noticed it had appeared as a factory option and had the dealer add it my spec., saving me a few $$s. Seems a bit of a stretch to charge $100 for substituting a switch panel with 6 switches for one that has 5, but from a safety standpoint I guess its worth it.
I got my panel from Classic MINI and installed my self. Need to remove 8 screws, to get to the panel and then 2 screws for panel plus a cannon plug. Took 1/2 hour at the most. Stopped by the dealer and they activiated the rear fog lights for $0, and my rear fog light mod was installed at the time and had no issues. Rear lights works as advertised. Brake on; rear fog off - both upper and lower lights on, brake off; rear fog off - all lights off, lights on; rear fog on - upper lights bright, low lights dim, with the rear fog on and applying the brake no affect upper light, lower light dim.
Cost of New Panel - $60.00 / Installation and Activiation of new Panel - $0.00
Brake Light Modification Kit - $14.00
Having all the lights in back of my MINI working = Priceless

Wow, that's sweet! Which MINI dealer is that?
As MINI-rolls mentioned, the installation of the penal is relatively easy. I had my alarm and rear fog lights activated for $45, which is 1/2 hr of labor. I think that's reasonable!
