R50/53 Best R50 (non S) intake
Best R50 (non S) intake
Me again,
I'm in the market to buy an intake for "Peter Pan" and of course K&N is the only company that makes a CARB approved intake. Who do you think makes the best intake for R50's, if it's not K&N is it worth the time and is it easy to take out the intake and go stock for smog?
Any help is appreciated.
Eric

You're probably going to want either the WAY/DDM from WayMotorWorks, or the aFe (which I have and got from VACMotorsports.)
Here is a great thread on the two:

I am pretty sure my aFe has a CARB sticker on the filter. I don't have emissions testing here though.

The dry filter doesnt need to be oiled. I think that is best if you are in a dusty climate. Not sure about flow difference but i doubt it is anything drastic. I have the oiled filter but may switch just because finding a cleaning kit and getting it to canada is a hassle.

Look in the the Cooper non S performance section here on NAM you'll find a thread where we challenged a customer that had the AFE to our WAY/DDM intake. And of course ours came out on top. We sell both of them, but can tell the that the WAY/DDM is better, and cheaper.
Way, does a paper filter fit on your product? This upgrade is on my list but I was leaning toward non oil for convenience. After working in a metal shop and as a painter I can't handle solvent fumes anymore.
