He means stick with the stock ECU, and only run one boost device IE: Supercharger or Turbo.

The stock ECU can be competely cracked open with ByteTroniK FA so that you can tune it yourself.

I think he means, yes stock ECU and choose one of the options out there for tuning that ECU, and from your title you're talking about twin charging, and while yes it's been done in order to do it right you have to invest about the same amount of money and probably considerably more time into getting it right as opposed to just doing a much simpler turbo only conversion, which will give you better yeild if you want it to. (twincharging will have an inevitable hp limitation simply due to the configuration of the system that turbo only won't)

Basiclly pick a hp goal and that will give you a direction.

For the Simplest HP gain outhere that will net you the most HP i would go with a custom single turbo build. Superchargers will net alot of HP but i have seen more high HP turbo builds then the later. not saything that they are not out there, there is just more HP with a well build turbo setup.

At this time on avg. 300whp is your dividing line S/C / Turbo, to do a turbo set up right You'll first have to get into the motor simply because of boost levels, then your talking about, manifold, fmic, and custom exhaust & piping, it's all available but be ready to drop $15,000 or so by the time your finished.

What are you trying to do with the car? The few people that i have seen do a turbo conversion spent a lot of money doing it and the results were nothing major. We don't have the luxury of a 2.5 liter engine like Subaru has so to get those numbers you will have to pay.

Check over at minitorque.com but I have to agree with BlwnAway, you are looking to dump some serious money to get it done, especially a conversion. It will all be custom.

The guys at MT have pulled some great numbers with an R53 and can give you great no BS advice before you start dropping cash. Most have been down this road already.

Just throw a Sprintex on and some supporting mods/tuning. That will net you some good power and it's alot easier. Then if that's not enough for you, you could always take it further. I could be wrong here but I feel that you are under estimating what 300 HP will feel like in a MINI. Even just in the low 200's feels very quick in our cars.

I'd wait on Sprintex until they figure out why it is popping engines.

You could also go the Rotrex route. That would be good for 300HP, mostly on the top end just like doing turbo, but without the lag.

There are options to get the power you want, you just need to make some desisions. Any way you go though, it's going to be way more expensive than making 300HP with a Subie.
