R50/53 All Black MCS?
I'm considering ordering one of these, but have never seen one in the flesh (browsed plenty of images, though.) The alternative is DS/B, which I have seen and like.
Can anyone who has seen one of these beasties give me their honest reaction?
Thanks!

We got ours in all black and went with more chrome instead of less:

The black scratches very easy. I washed it once with a non 100% cotton mitt and it got very fine scratches on it in several places. You'll have to be very careful if you want to keep it scratch free.
There are some more pics here.

My MCS is all black. No added chrome -- I prefer the black slats in front. But, of course, it's just personal preference.
I've owned lots of black sports cars so I've learned a few things about caring for this challenging color. My advice would be to properly prep the car and then apply several coats of a polymer finish as soon as you take delivery of the car. I personally prefer LiquiTech products but the much touted Zaino brand is probably just as good.
The result is fabulous. However, if you go to a car wash, all bets are off...

Zero regrets, if I ordered the car again I'd do it exactly the same way.
I like washing my car, so the extra time taking care of the black paint isn't a big deal. I just had the wrong mitt for the first wash.
If you're going to do anything but handwash with the right gear on a black MINI, be prepared for the scratches.

Black was one of my choices. It looks really stealth, especially when everything is blacked out, for example: tint, black grilles, black or gun metal wheels, smoked tail lights and side markers, etc...
On the other hand, I want to be playful with a car like MINI. I ended up getting a IB/W, so I can put a UJ flag on the roof.
Black is a great choice, hard to maintain though. If you're in the south, where it's hot during the summer, black can heat up the car rather quickly.

I agree with 911fan...as soon as you take delivery of your black baby, begin a strict, frequent regimen of careful detailing and polishing to keep that black looking good. I regret not buying a bra for the cross-country Roadtrip last spring. The bonnet chips are painful to look at. I had many of them touched up, but there are still lots of little, teeny chips.
