The IS300 and S40 (9 and 10) are alot of car for a teenager.

Especially the IS300 - a moderately powered rwd vehicle doesn't seem like a good choice for a teen. An Acura TL would make more sense for a luxery option.

 

Why are ther any SUVs on the list?

An SUV will almost always be less safe than a car, especially for teenagers with less experience controlling a vehicle while trying to avoid an accident.

My kid will never drive an SUV.

 

Saw the MSNBC article first thing this morning. It supports my argument to others who question my car choice that the MINI is a relatively safe vehicle. However, I was just getting over all the "what a cute car" comments and now I will have to deal with the "isn't that a teenager's car?" remarks. I only act like a teen. Remember- growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional.

 

I was quite impressed by MINI's safty rating, given its small size. :smile:

Don't worry, most teens are too impatient to wait for a MINI. Some will do it, and some will find used, but not in the numbers that threaten to establish a dominant demographic.

Besides, the ones who talk mom or dad into buying them one will have to fight them to get a chance to drive once the parent gets a test drive!

 

You know, I could positively plaster myself with MINI crash safety ratings and that MSNBC article and people STILL wouldn't believe that my car is safe. 4 stars on any other car and it's a celebration of safety. 4 stars on a MINI and "That's not all there is to it."

 

And that 4 star rating doesn't take into account all the accidents you avoid with the brilliant handling!
