British Racing Green and leather
Stopped by my newly opened Mini dealership today and was informed that you cannot get a Mini S in British Racing Green with leather upholstery. Is this true? They also told me there is a $2000 mark-up above the MSRP on all their Mini S's.
Thanks
Thanks
what? where are you going?
BRG will be available on the '03 "S"... and of course you can get leather. Not the green leather but the black leather should be available.
This is something you will probably have to order and understand that no one should be paying over MSRP!!!

Yea, that's what they told me. They said they could get a Mini S '03 in BRG but not with the leather, not even the Panther Black Gravity Leather, though on the mini site you seem to be able to make this combo. The dealership is John Roberts Mini in Dallas, TX; just opened this month. Believe me, I'll wait a long time before paying over MSRP.
well, thats just silly. about the leather,I mean... you can get anything thats on the MINI site. we tell our customers to print their MINI and bring it in. We are order it directly from that.
well, best of luck with that
well, best of luck with that
John Robberts, At first thay said they would only be $1,500 over MSRP and now they are saying $2,000. What a rip off. As soon as Moritz opens JR will have zero business as Moritz has said they will sell at MSRP from day 1. Only bad thing is Moritz will probably not open till after the first of the year.
Do like I did and take a road trip to Memphis. The drive home will make memories of a lifetime and you can do it in a day. They are easy to deal with and won't give you a lot of bull.
I'm considering buying a used M3 - I now know where I will not be looking

Make a trip to BR Louisiana and buy from Brian Harris BMW/MINI. They have people backing out every week on their orders. Which means you might be able to get one without being on the waiting list. They also sell at sticker price. Mine was delivered two weeks ago and they had it ready the next day. If you call them ask for Eric.
Good luck

Thanks for the advice. By the way, I saw your Mini in a parking lot the other day (one of only 2 I've seen in Dallas) with the Tennesse paper plates. Looks very nice. Hopefully you'll be seeing my mini soon.
Take care

Welcome to the world of MINI! It seems that there are two types of dealers out there right now... due to the demand for the new MINI's:
Type 1 Dealer: Asks for, and gets (for the time being) any where from $2000 to $4000+ above MSRP. This is "somewhat" offset by the fact that you can usually order a car from these folks within a month or so (and then another few months for delivery). You may also find a car on their lot (same premium price), and drive it away "right now".
Type 2 Dealer: Sells all cars at MSRP. Because people find out about these dealers, you generally have to wait 4-6 months--- just to place your order! Then another 2-3 months for delivery (assuming the dock workers get their stuff together).
My experience is that 90% of the dealers are "Type 1". In the Los Angeles area, I checked about 8 dealers; only one (1) was selling at MSRP. I "got on the list" at their dealership in mid-July; they said my car would be ordered at the end of November (4 1/2 months), and I could expect delivery in late February (~7 months).
By the way; this is not uncommon with "popular" cars right now. Many other makes have the same "premium" applied over MSRP, due to high demand. Personally, I went to several dealers, did some negotiation, and then decided I'd rather WAIT and get it at MSRP.... due partially to the $ savings, but equally because it increased the odds of me being able to get several options that are not available "today" (HK radio upgrade, DVD-based Nav system, "Indi" color on an MCS, and auto-dimming rear view mirror).
As an aside, the "MOST" expensive way to get a MINI (in case you're interested?), is to walk in off the street and buy one of the cars that the dealer has "optioned-up" with wheels, tinting, aero kits, and all sorts of other "custom" options. I've seen a "Cooper" for sale with this treatment with a window sticker price of $32,000!!! That's about $6000 more than I'll pay for my fully loaded MCS!!! The old saying still holds true: if you want it badly enough, that's how they'll make you PAY for it!
You'll be pleased to know, however, that the time does go by pretty rapidly; and MCO (Mini Cooper Online) helps to pass the time, while learning about the car. In the LA area, Long Beach MINI is where you go if you want to pay MSRP. The people there have been very pleasant, as I come in every other week to look at the newest MINI's to arrive; trying to decide on my final color combination and options.
WELCOME to MC0!

I'd like to state, for a change around here, although this site is great and has helped, my wait has been painfully long. So long that I'll never wait for than 2 days for a car ever again. I've only been waiting for 4 months and it feels like several lifetimes. Each day has dragged and dragged. I only have a day or two to wait now (hopefully) and I still want to pull my hair out and bang my head against a wall. The wait is the worst - but I would pick waiting over paying a couple of grand over MSRP. But I hate waiting. I hate waiting 5 minutes at a line at the supermarket. If I walk into a store and see any kind of line I'll walk right back out. My longest previous wait was 2 days - I bought a Mustang GT Conv on a Saturday and picked it up on Monday night. I thought THAT was a long wait! I'll never wait more than a weekend again.
Sorry I couldn't offer more encouraging advice...it'll be a very long wait I'm sure...but the dividends are huge!

I have a BRG MCS with tan leather. Or Black and tan to be precise.
BTW: if you get a BRG MINI, get it with the Black/tan leather, the color combo is amazing.
